I went to LSU and live in Houston, so I have many coworkers and acquaintances who are A&M grads. We enjoy talking football with one another, but it’s not really a big rivalry. We hope that both teams are powers and ranked when they play one another, and we usually make friendly wagers on the game. But again, not really a rivalry.

On this site, it’s more cesspool than rivalry.

Wow this thread really proved LSU doesn’t really have a rival, I guess we drew the short straw getting stuck with them

A shite ton of A&M and LSU alum live and work together. Both are land grant colleges regularly collaborating on many items and trading faculty from the beginning. The first football game between LSU and A&M was in 1899. It's been a natural rivalry for over a century.

Contrary to what many tools on this board claim, you’re absolutely correct. This fake rivalry is merely on this board.

It's OK to not have a primary rival. As some have said, LSU-Tulane was the in state rivalry and final game of the season til the series ended around 1990. LSU-Ole Miss was a rivalry from the 40s to 80s. Alabama owns us for the most part so while it's been the game of the year over the last decade, Alabama has 1-2 other bigger rivals.

A&M-LSU is a natural rivalry and a long series but Texas will always be their main one. Arkansas-LSU never really took off even though they are neighbors and similarly the only big programs in their states.

LSU folks, it's OK that we don't have a main rival. Stop trying too hard.

Modern rivalries is all about suppressing your biggest threats for recruiting. A&M is the top threat right now for ut, LSU, OU, and Arky. Hence why they really do not like us right now. I think LSU is a bigger threat for us right now then ut.

Sure about that?

Damn sure about that!!

When the new AD came begging our AD to play them, we told them to pound sand! You see, when we left, Texas basically told all of the Texas schools not to ever play A&M in football…….they were throwing a tantrum like they normally do when things don’t go their way!

So when they came calling because they realized that their schedules in the big XII were garbage, and since the ONLY big game they had in their schedule was the OU game, they came begin for A&M to renew the rivalry.

By 2017 the majority of students and former students could care less to play the horns in football! (Yes, there was a poll made by the university)

Texas needed us, we didn’t need them, and it was payback for the way they acted when we left the Big XII…..they could go pound for all i care!
