In short ... YES, it most certainly was.

No way that happens like that if uniforms reversed. No fricking way.

the bigger issue is if Sankey and Co will stand up for the women of the SEC and reign in the bad refs when at least SEC teams are involved. it is still a travesty that that ESPN built a studio for the LHN but did not for the SECN in the actual SEC footprint. SECN broadcasts out of ACC footprint instead of Atlanta, Nashville, or Birmingham.

Of course not. UCONN is most likely a ratings machine in a sport that is a ratings wasteland.

The problem is if you keep on pulling for UCONN the ratings will stay that way. Believe it or not, good ratings for a WBB program existed before and after UCONN's rise but ESPN's push of UCONN in recruiting and general media has strangled the growth of WBB and without Summitt who always pushed for the growth of the sport the past few years have been terrible.

This upcoming final is the best thing that could've happened for WBB but if you're in sports media you have to have enough foresight to sacrifice a quick assured rating in one game for overall better ratings every year if you let the sport grow.

Many of the top attendance schools for WBB are in the SEC

Iowa State is always in the Top 4 for attendance but you never hear ESPN pushing them. Louisville and Notre Dame (in the basketball crazy states of IN and KY) draw more live fans than Connecticut. South Carolina and Tennessee are #1 and #2 in attendance and nobody in the country travels like the VOLS. Baylor and Kentucky draw numbers just below Connecticut yet they do not get near the ESPN love and exposure. 4 or 5 B1G schools draw 100K or so and get no love even tho some of them have a banner or 2 hanging in their rafters. Stanford has multiple Natty's + HoF coach + west coast exposure and you have real troubles finding them on TV because the PACN is not owned by ESPN.

Not saying Connecticut is terrible but without ESPN propping them up the ratings would be better for the rest of the country. Case in point it the UK vs UL women's game every year.

#1 Top national programs playing each other
#2 Both are usually ranked in Top 10 or Top 20 when game is played
#3 Attendance numbers are high at either location
#4 Louisville KY is a top college basketball media market (UL, UK, WKU, and ND)
#5 SEC vs ACC hits 2 massive footprints
#6 Games are usually close and are often decided in OT or final seconds of game

This game never gets national feed and on year Connecticut had that time slot instead when they were playing a patsy they beat by 50 - 70 points.

At the game last night I saw both Vols and Cats pulling for state. They were even sitting together.

I have been to Final Fours where VOLS were not even in the Final Four and VOLS had the most folks in the venue. (and they were not day trips from Knoxville)

VOL women are like UK men in how they travel.

No doubt. I don't think people realize that the LVs are both a national and international brand. This despite ESPN doing everything they can to prop up UCONN for the past 15 years or more.

BBN and LVN have fans everywhere. It's insane.

Not really, Pat was a great ambassador for the sport above and beyond her team.

I view it this way

Pat = Rupp
Geno = Wooden

The first two built programs from nothing with little support while the latter two needed a benefactor to win the way they did (Pappa Sam for UCLA and ESPN for Geno)

Disclaimer : Wooden and Geno would clearly be top level coaches just with lower percentages without their benefactors (winning say .650 to .750 instead of .950). I make the same argument if Bowden had Free Shoes U in the SEC instead of IND and ACC. A win or two less and Bowden is still a top coach but that extra loss or two would be enough to keep Free Shoes out of the MNC discussion.

I thought there was a clear charge vs the UConn player when she drove to the basket after the foul shots as well, no one seems to mention that.

How UCONN'S best player didn't pick up that last foul while being aggressive on the ball and MSUs best player got fouled out trying to tie up the ball is insane

Almost as bad as the horrible flagrant foul. UCONN wild having slap knocks rebound lose. Then MSU player gets called while trying to pick up ball.

Honestly SEC office should ask NCAA WTF

Absolutely

Good no call according to announcers. Their bias and lack of covering hose job is comical as well

As mentioned already the issue is when they reviewed it....AFTER State had already gone down and had a play on the basket and the ball was back in UConn's court. I'd have no problem with it being reviewed when it happened if a foul was called.

What's to say with 2 seconds left in a tied game a ref says we missed a call 5 minutes ago....lets review it and give Team A 2 FTs to win the game.
