Can you imagine UA, AU, UGA, UF, UT, and USC all in the same division? Jesus, that would be tough as hell every year to get to Atlanta.

Yep make the West a joke and watch revenue for asses in seats plummet.

LSU/Bama is second only to UA/AU right now and appears it could continue that way for 5 or so years. Stupidity to frick with that kind of draw.

Well someone in the current east will have to come west. Otherwise, you would have 8 teams in the East and 6 in the West if you put both Alabama and Auburn in that division.

Vanderbilt.

The division opponents would be Arkansas, Texas A&M, Missouri, Ole Miss, Miss State, and Vandy.

Arkansas and Texas A&M would be LSU's regular season "Super Bowls"

So awesome!

so LSU could potentially lose AU, Bama and Florida as yearly opponents? you've got to be fricking kidding me.

No fricking shite.

If LSU ends up in a division with the Miss schools, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Missouri, I will turn in my SEC card. That would be utter bullshite, they may as well just kick LSU out of the conference. Actually I would rather be in a conference with Oklahoma and Texas then relegated to that shitty line up.

That's one thing I don't like about this whole move to a playoff thing, tradition gets shite canned.

No they wont. Two teams will be brought in from the east.

Doesn't matter. If Bama wants to stay in the west, Bama will stay in the west. The only way Bama consents to a move to the Eastern division is if they think it will benefit the school and program. I don't see that happening. Bama stays right where they are at.

I wonder if competitive balance is considered?

Competitive balance is a nonsense concept.

Ten years ago, the five best teams in the SEC by record were Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, LSU, and South Carolina.

Today, the picture is quite different. The idea that balance is somehow static, that the teams at the top and the bottom are set in stone forever is just not so.

Would you all just settle the frick down? First, the OP is Draconian Sanctions. A bigger frick stick we have not seen on this board. Second, frick what the LSU Chancellor thinks MIGHT happen. This will NOT happen the way the frick stick OP says.

Very true. The Golden Boot will become the Lombardi Trophy of the Western Division.

I wouldn't be surprised if state speaks up and moves themselves east. they would have an easier go of it then being in the west.

As it is there are only 1-2 games every year worth actually going to. Excuse me if I don't get all excited for some FCS scrubs.

LSU's home game rotations:
1: UF, Auburn, Arky
2: Miss St, Bama, Ole Miss

If the new alignment happens:
1: East transfer, 14th member, Arky
2: Miss St, aTm, Ole Miss

--- This would seriously blow. Trading UF, Auburn, & Bama for East scrub, ???, & aTm. They might as well rename the whole conference, b/c it sure as hell doesn't feel like the SEC.

LSU has long been looking for a way out of having to play Florida every year. The bottom line is that perma-rivals were only created for the benefit of 4 teams: Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, and Georgia. Once you have a conference of 14 or 16 teams, it makes little sense to continue perma-rivals for the benefit of only 4 of those teams.

The benefit to perma-rivals though is two-fold:

1. Two of the nation's most revered rivalries remain.
2. Conference parity. Perma-rivals ensure that every year, every Big 6 team has to play another Big 6 team in the opposite division. This prevents teams in conference title discussion from skirting by with a lucky schedule that includes UK, Vandy, and USC for example without having to play UF, UGA or UT. It also gives teams like Vandy a fair chance because they are guaranteed a game every year against an SEC lightweight.

2.
