was this not the dude who said LF was just another running back?

No that was Ford who instead even fake tackling, decided to jog so he never got to him. The only thing we could thing of on this hit was that the dude had recently separate his shoulder and didn't want to do so again by putting it into that moving brick wall.

>I'm getting tired of anytime someone posts abut a team it's because they're "obsessed". It's a fricking football forum. Posting about football doesn't make you obsessed

As if this place isn't nearly exclusively for trolling under the guise of "discussing football"

Dude leaves both of his feet so he can go horizontal to the ground and land on Fournette's shoulders. And that was after it was pounded into his head all week that you have to hit him low. I have never seen such a poor excuse for a tackle.

AU fans - was that defender ever asked what the hell he was doing on that play?

What annoys me is when LSU fans pound their chest to that play as if Fournette owned that guy, but it really had very little to do with Fournette.

think it had a lot to do with seeing Fournette run through and over a few Auburn defenders right before that. probably, thought, well that didn't work might as well try this

It's had everything to do with completely fearing what Fournette would do to him, he got completely pussified by Buga because he had the space, angle, and opportunity to hit him low but chose to jump over him.

Honestly do think this is it. Panicked at the last second and this was the result.

I agree.

Fournette did what every running back in the SEC would have done. He ducked down a little to miss the tackle.

I just thought "maybe he was going for the helmet to helmet kill shot." So I rewatched the video - even if Fournette had not ducked at all, the AU defender was jumping clear over him.

The o.p. is obsessed with Auburn. Matthews was protecting an Injured shoulder, dumbo.

had it been Alex Collins, he'd have put his shoulder pad in his thigh and made a TD saving tackle

He was clearly just trying to jump over him so he didn't have to get run over but didn't jump high enough

Earlier in that game I believe he knocked the sawdust out of a guy using perfect low form.

Ockham's razor...the simplest answer here is probably true. The tackler was looking to make a big, impressive tackle by hitting LF in the air, screwed it up, and ended up looking silly. If you don't have the angle and momentum, you're not going to make the highlight reels you so desperately crave, so just tackle.

If you watch the play he had the full open opportunity to stick a helmet in his thighs or lower his shoulder into the waist. Imo though he made the right choice of not taking a knee to the chest, Leonard was running really hard that day.

Didn't that DB say that he was trying to do something different since all other tackle techniques during that game weren't working?

Yeah, I guess the 37 other tackles Fournette broke on that same play had very little to do with him also......

Can we talk about what happened at the 0:26 mark of that video?
