The NCAA is making money hand over fist, break these guys off a chunk
So they get a chunk and just proceed to take more under the table? Yeah, that'll solve a whole lot.

It should be allowed... let the shoe companies contract directly with the players. Why should the coaches get all the money.

This starts well before college. Kids are placed in the 7th or 8th grade or younger.
Soccer does this all around the world and they take more advantages of third world poverty.
Anywhere there is the amount of money that March Madness generates, there will be plenty of deals going on in the darkness

Not really.
I saw the documentary on Sonny Vaccaro. That started decades ago. I also knew that agents funnel money to go-betweens so they can steer players to agents.
A lot of people here have forgotten about all of the football players who were suspended for the agents flying them to Miami so they could party.
Sports are corrupt. I have seen first hand that there are JUCO guys getting benefits......local businesses/guys who have made it to the pros pony up for that. Again, the JUCO level. They also are steered towards certain Universities, if they are talented enough. It doesn't take much common sense to figure out what is going on there.
ETA I was shocked Person was involved with it. He made millions and millions in the NBA, and is making gobs at Auburn. There is no way he needed the money. So why did he do it? That was shocking.

Yes and on the other side of it those companies are guiding players via their camps to coaches they know will be complicit in it.
I feel it's hurt HS basketball. Seriously.

This is SOP. Grease the pockets of people involved that can make it happen. Apparel companies have it easy. They don't have to line the pockets of politicians. Can't believe the idiots got caught

So the NCAA becomes a pro sport?
I would rather things go back to allowing players to go pro out of HS

What's everybody's university's FBI code name?

Absolutely and I can't see why it is not considered as some part of a rackateering crime

NBA Development teams are growing rapidly in popularity and are getting ESPN airtime. We could see revamping the draft and college talent trend down quickly

It kinda makes sense to me when you see what those companies have to play professional players. Basically they get future NBA talent wearing their stuff for pennies on the dollar.
What sickens me is the coaches taking money to push players to certain agents. That is a complete violation of trust and what a coaches role should be.

This^^ and it's in almost every industry. When I was an undergrad, one of the big oil companies landed a helicopter on the MSU drill field and picked up the top petroleum engineering candidate, took him to lunch and the flew him back.
Earl Woods had a business card that named him Western States Director of Talent Evaluation for Titleist when Tiger was a junior. That's how a kid travels the world playing junior golf on a military pension check.
Both cases turned out to be very good investments for the companies involved, imo

Do you find it a bit slimy that major companies are paying coaches and others to put players where they want them?
I feel the same way about this as I do the players who are accepting money. Just because something is offered to you, that does not mean you have to take it.
Coaches have to be able to say no. Its their job
