I agree. I'm from VA. Kentucky is no Virginia. Statewise that is.

Sav's is awesome for African cuisine.

Pazzo's for pizza. Lots of kids from UK go there for cheap beer.

Bourbon N' Toulouse is the best Cajun that you can find in Lex. Ramsey's Diner is good for country food. Malone's for steak.

Depends on what kind of dinner or atmosphere you're looking for.

As far as bars in Lexington go...Two Keys, Tin Roof, Trust (on Thursdays only), The Penguin, Redmons is a huge attraction downtown..and right in the area that Redmons is, there are a ton of bars. It's called the Pavillion.

Obviously hopefully you'd come when Keeneland is session. That's a huge attraction, and full of talent everywhere. Definitely try and hit up the Kentucky bourbon trail, but it may be hard to do all that in one weekend especially with a game.

As far as food goes, Ramseys, Malones, Sals, Pazzos, Joe Bs, Savs, Tolly Ho, Sawyers, DeSheas, all offer great food.

And if you're worried about women, well Lexigton and UK has plenty of it around. I might be biased (because I go to UK), but I've been to every SEC campus except Arkansas and aTm, but I would say were on par with the tops. Definitely no lower than middle of the SEC which is not bad at all.

Any other questions just ask. Lexington is a great place.

Nice to have another Cat here, as our ranks have been somewhat decimated lately.

BC and CatFan has pretty well covered it. I'd also like to reiterate Keeneland if you're here during the meet. Tons of college kids. Beautiful track too.

Welcome aboard. We need more blue on this site anyway. Are you from Kentucky or just go to UK?

To OP, if you go to Nashville make sure you take lots of cash. 1 beer = $4.00

Keeneland is worth the trip in and of itself. Live racing only in October and April. During race meets, might as well be spring break. Still worth a visit anytime. A truly beautiful place, and almost a spiritual experience when racing is not going on. Just walk in and roam around. Like you have the place all to your own. Sports bar on the second floor grandstand always open for simulcasting.

Tons of bars and restaurants on the Limestone corridor into downtown. Hugh Jass, Pazzo's, Keys, Tin Roof on Limestone. Walk down Limestone to downtown.

Merrick Inn off of Tates Creek Road, Harry's/Sal's/Drake's in Lansdowne for an little bit older crowd.

Whatever you do, don't go to bowling green.

Nashville is the best city in the SEC, but least "college town" like. It is a blast though.

Lexington is pretty fun, and there is plenty of "talent" walking around.. Playboy rated it the most attractive female student body last year.

I'm not from Kentucky, but I'll be starting my Junior year in about a week (classes start the 22nd).

However, having lived there for 2 years now I feel I have a very good appreciation for the state, and I absolutely love it there. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I'm originally from South Carolina though.

Here you go...I saw this on a latest flight on business. The US Airways Magazine hits all the hot spots in Lexington and the surrounding areas. Start on page 56 and go from there.LINK

Nashville:

Places to Stay
-Mariott right by the stadium
-Embassy Suites in midtown (free shuttle within 3 miles of the hotel which includes the area around Jess Neeely)
-Loews: Be prepared to drop some $$$ if you stay here

Places to Eat in midtown/downtown
-Fido for Breakfast. Skip the Pancake pantry. The line isn't worth it.
-Tavern for Breakfast/Brunch.
-12 South Taproom for Lunch. Great beer selection here. Surprisingly tasty bar food.
-McDougal's for lunch. Chicken fingers & fries place. Good for cheap eats.
-Rotier's for lunch - One of the best burgers in town. Go early. Parking sucks.
-Paradise Park for lunch and late night. Yes, I said it. They have really good sweet potato fries & a fantastic patty melt. Good corndogs too. This place is half bar/ half restaurant and is right smack in the middle of downtown.
-City House for dinner. Italian place, good pizza.
-Watermark for dinner. One of my favorites in town. This is an upscale place in the gulch.
-Park Cafe for Dinner. Sylvan Park area. This is a nicer place as well.
-Virago for lunch or dinner. This is a sushi place. The staff is a little uppity, but they have some interesting outsude-the-box rolls there, and the best dirty martini I've ever had. Located near Downtown.
-SouthStreet for lunch or dinner. This is more of a casual place. The food is just OK but it has a great outdoor space. Definitely don't go here if you don't want to eat outside.
-Jackson's for lunch or dinner. Same as above. Casual place with a great outdoor space, average food, although I will say it is better than South Street. It's a great place for afternoon cocktails on a nice day.

What the hell is "Trust"? Never heard of that bar... did it take the place of gambino's, whatever it was changed to then closed down again?

I stuck to downtown bars when I was living there and out of college. 2 Keys, Tinroof, etc. is pretty lame when you are out of school and a professional.

-Harvey's-Hugo's(2 bars in 1)
-The irish bar next door(name escapes me been there a 1000x !!!!)
-Atomic Cafe(during the summer only)
-The Penguin
-Redmon's
-Cheapside,
-Sky Bar,
-that club at the very top of chase bank offices, -Busters(if a good band is there or you want to play pool during the week).

All of these bars are down town and within walking distance of each other. Thus you can bar hop around, and tons of people are down there.

Two Keys, Tin Roof, etc. is college only really. Downtown is a mix of college, and professional types.

I don't know how old you are, but if your not in college, go downtown.
