Pretty sure an A&M fan brought race into the discussion

I wouldn't care if Less made 15 mil a year

When you're paid top dollar you're expected to produce like it. This goes for any profession.

5 million in the State of Texas is totally different than the rest of the SEC. You really can't compare salaries in Texas to a Louisiana salary

Strong makes more than Sumlin and had 5 wins last year.

Same deal at A&M.

If he wins, he won't be fired.

If he doesn't, then big money donors will reconsider

Incorrect about Strong. He has been given much more of a pass for a losing record in the weakest conference.

He may have a little cooler seat than Sumlin but he's also been at Texas half as long as Sumlin has been at A&M.

I honestly don't believe Strong is being "given a pass" for his losing record.

The Sips, like many of our SEC brethren, are just much more media savvy. They understand that nothing good can come from publicly berating the coach and the program. They understand that it will ultimately negatively impact recruiting and that even if you get the new coach you want, irreparable damage could be done to the program. They also understand that they have little to no impact pertaining to the hiring/firing decisions within the program.

The honest truth is that A&M has ultimately been more concerned about losing Sumlin to the NFL or another "better" coaching job like USC. The discussion of firing Sumlin didn't really gather any "steam" until the Sips started talking about replacing Strong with Tom Herman. At that point "Battered Aggie Syndrome" went into full effect and posters started a campaign to fire Sumlin and hire Herman before the Sips fired Strong.

Texag7 is right. The market drives salary and not necessarily performance.

Charlie Strong (tu), Art Briles (Baylor), and Bob Stoops (OU) all make $5M+. Gary Patterson (TCU) makes nearly $4M and the school didn't even start receiving their full revenue share until last year.

that's right. they should keep him, regardless of his record, because he's black.

i'm sorry man, I've seen lots of racist views spewed at Barrack Obama but not at Kevin Sumlin. just because he catches shite it's not racism. ever see how much shite Les Miles catches?

that was a low blow son. and uncalled for. the OP wasn't espousing racial views and you know it. it is quite common to think your coach is not very good regardless of his color. his on the field results and his off the field discordinance with players and parents speak for themselves.

There is a lot of talent on the Texas A&M team. They will surprise the SEC soon.

Sumlin's real problem is the SEC West is so tough.

That happens to be a problem shared by other coaches in the West.
