Southern Men from Missouri, by the 10s of thousands, including the Missouri State Guard, fought for the South during the War.
The 12th & 13th Stars on Confederate flags are for Missouri & Kentucky.
Welcome HOME, Missouri!

But you should know better than trying to present facts to this discussion.

It was pretty well accepted at the time that if Federal troops had not taken over the state government Missouri would have seceded. It was pretty much the same thing in Maryland. Both states had some very pro-southern loyalties. East Tennessee on the other hand was very pro-unionist. Many men from East Tennessee fought for the union.
Harry Truman's mother would not sleep in the Lincoln bedroom when she visited the White House. She was a witness to the Missouri/Kansas border war.

I assumed that most of you knew that Harry Truman was from Missouri.

Both Missouri and Kentucky are yankees. Y'all really should be in the Big 10

The decade of the 60s, we never lost more that 3 games per season.
We beat Heisman winner, OBC Spurrier in the 1966 Sugar Bowl.
But my favorite was beating Bama in their worst Bowl game ever. 1968 Gator Bowl 35-10
Would have been much worse if Devine didn't let off the gas. Bama's total yards at halftime was -45yrds

E. TN was about 60-80% Unionist by popular vote. We were one of the most pro-Union pro-Abolition spots in the entire country and tried to secede from the state more than once.

I remember Roger Werhel (sp) from Mizzou in the 1960s and he played For St Louis in the NFL a long time as memory serves me. Spuurier and the Gators lost to Mizzou in 1965 Sugar Bowl 20-18 after being down 20-0 we scored three straight TDs with Spurrier catching on fire...but we went for 2 point conversions each TD and if we had of kicked xtra point instead....we would have won 21-20....btw Spurrier is the ONLY winner of the MVP award in Sugar Bowl history to win from a losing team.

Kickers have been known to miss.
That does sound like an exciting game!

We are Yankees from the mighty midwest. Every Mizzou fan here should endorse, support, and be proud of it.

Yankees? frick no. There are no Missouri-natives who are true yankees.
From the Midwest? Yes, if you are from North of I-44. If you live South of I-44, you're from the South.

MIZZOU by state law cannot spend any tax money on any sports program. All monies came from donation or game attendance. We were the only team in the old big 8 and big 12 that had these contraints. The Big8 now 12 shared very little money. Texas came in and basically took over. So hence it was hard to compete under these funding issues.

You aren't any different than the past, you just happen to be playing in a division that is significantly weaker than the West, and on top of that has some of the better programs really down right now. You don't have one really good team in the East. Florida is crap, SC is down, Georgia is struggling at QB and DB, Vandy is god awful, Tenn is slightly above Vandy, and Kentucky looks better because they are playing in the East....I mean think about that. You may have one legit top 25 team in that division, whereas you have probably 7 top 30 teams in the West.
