I still haven't decided if I should be impressed or disappointed in that stat. Stirs up a mix of emotions.

the informed LSU fan never wanted Les gone...they can rationally accept that he is a really good coach and that he is not Saban.

What I am guilty of is saying we needed to make some changes defensively at the end of the season based on what we had seen at that point.(I was thinking Haley) and was even open to moving Chavis if Les thought the game was passing him by.

It is hard for me to stomach teams moving the ball at will and scoring relentlessly.(41-7) or allowing 300 yards rushing to anyone. (even Barry Sanders shouldn't get 300 yards on any self respecting defense.)

then you watch a game like last night and see the brand of defensive football LSU has trademarked into a golden era. You see players stepping up and playing to their potential and somewhere in between Fapping all night and having wet dreams about ruining Ole Miss' Season...you learn to appreciate things more.

The grass is greener, the water is crisp and cleaner, there is still a Ole Miss fan named Brittney getting passed around in a dingy Tigerland apartment somewhere.

Life is good.

This is his style of play. We rarely ever get out to a fast start. Les wants to ru nthat clock and wear defenses down with the run game.

Teams can and will often get a lead on us, but usually by the 4th quarter the defense is worn out and that's when Les' offense takes over and goes in for the kill. What you saw against Ole Miss is EXACTLY Les wants to happen. We remained in the game the entire time wearing out Ole Miss' undersized defense then we put together 1 beauty of a drive they simply could not stop the run on.

How the hell do you trail 47 times in the fourth with the LSU teams he has had?

Playing up/down to competition. It's always been a problem with him. Slow, plodding offenses with mediocre QB play since 07 (Mett last year being the exception)

Blowouts (either winning or losing) are rare.

2011 was an outlier season in terms of dominating opponents. We had a ridiculously talented defense/special teams that constantly put our O in good field position.

1. Les Miles runs a ground and pound offense that rarely results in large margins of victory
2. LSU has the skill players to run an amazing two minute offense
3. Les Miles reserves passing the ball consistently for when it is absolutely necessary (down in the 4th quarter)
4. Les Miles has always coached up great special teams
5. Les Miles and LSU have had some great defenses which keep the opponent in check even when they have to stay on the field for long durations due to weak offensive production
6. Combine all of this with the voodoo magic that is produced in Death Valley and you get a lot of 4th quarter comebacks

There is absolutely no logical explanation for a team to be above .500 when trailing in the fourth quarter...it's Frickin crazy.

The vast majority of the time, Miles and his teams are never out of it, and more-often-than-not find a way to win those come-from-behind battles. It's truly remarkable.

I think it speaks to The fourth quarter being, oftentimes, when Miles and his teams shine the brightest. It is definitely a trademark of Miles-coached teams to play well in the fourth quarter, which is the most important quarter in the game of football to begin with.

Just for comparison:

24-23 .511 LSU
18-34 .346 Texas
17-37 .315 Florida St
17-38 .309 Clemson
09-21 .300 Ohio State

Didn't do the math but that is about 35% of the games, Les has coached. I believe he has only lost 3 when leading going into the 4th Q. I could be wrong, a lot of drinking last night.

I take it this means the current head coaches of those programs?

It's generally because he has his team in bad positions against overmatched teams and the talent finally takes over.

However, there are some notable exceptions. Last night being one...

This happens at least 3 times a year, save that one Fall in 2011. That was a confusing time.

Am I supposed to believe he has 24 losses in OT?
