This^^^^. I spent a lot of time at Children's Hospital in Birmingham a few years ago after my daughter(12 at the time) had a bad accident. She is still recovering and is fortunate. I will never forget something she said. She said she you know, I really don't have it that bad because I will get to go home, but a lot of the kids would not. A sad truth.

Children's is an amazing place full of amazing people. If you live in the area and want to give back then that is a great place to get involved. There are many like it through out the country.

Les Did a great and noble deed for that young man and his family. It would be nice to have more focus on these types of stories.

Steve Friery Fort Smith, Ark.
Even the Madhatter has a heart. Though far from my favorite coach, a lot of coaches could learn from this. Thanks Coach for doing right and setting the example. From an Aggies Fan.

Even when you compliment Miles, y'all HAVE to get a dig in don't y'all?.....
I don't even know what this means "Even the Madhatter...." Miles has done a lot of this stuff in his 11 years in BR.

hat really doesn't make any sense. It was a fair point that wasn't some shot at Alabama. It's just a hypothetical that brings up a fair point.

No, it isn't and was a shot. Ridiculous to even try to defend it with any type of spin. There was no need, at all, to even bring Saban into this thread, especially in a negative manor. It only took away from the focal point of this thread and was a huge douchbag move.

I know that and my post was directed soley at that poster and in no way insinuated that any other Lsu person defended.

I agree with your post above, it just baffles me that people can't leave their fandom out of a topic like this and give 100% credit without a qualifier or a snide remark.

The sole focus should be on the good deed by Les.

Good job by a good guy! As quirky as Les Miles is, he is a great coach and when he retires the conference will sorely miss him.

I apologize it if came off the wrong way, as that wasn't my intent. It was more to supplement the praise Les was receiving in the thread, not derail the thread. He is flat out a much better coach than a lot of our fans and others perceive him as, point being. I am sure Alabama would still be a very good program in that hypothetical, wasn't implying they'd be some dumpster fire.

^^THIS^^

When my daughter was 3, she had a cut on the bottom of her foot develop staph infection. Scared the hell out of me and my wife. She had surgery on her foot at Children's and we stayed there for like three days. The folks at Children's were nothing short of amazing. The care was top notch and the staff were kind and had a great bedside manner with my daughter.

It's a nickname he has been given by some of the media, I don't see it as a dig. As I posted earlier good on Les we need more of this kind of thing in this world.

I'm glad to hear your positive story and that your daughter had a great outcome. We spent an initial 11 days and then would commute every week for 1.5 months and spend 3-4 days at a time. Basicaly we would go on a Wednesday come home on Friday or Saturday depending on the procedure and recovery time. Had a few turn around trips (long drive from the Alabama coast) the primary Dr. have us his personal cell and home number for us to use of we had any type of issue or questions.

Can't state it enough how great Children's Drs, Nurses and support staff were. Again, if anyone is wanting to give back to their community then Children's or a similar place would be a great place.

We witnessed many instances of good Samaritan behavior from all types of people.

Knowing first hand The level of stress, fear and pain that many of the families go through makes the Les Miles story even more endearing to me. Very happy that the young man was able to have that day in Tiger Stadium. Most people don't truley understand what something like that can do for him and his family.

Les never liked it much, but it was a great nickname given to him by Mark Mays. Of course, this was when Miles was a bit more prone to take chances, with fakes and whatnot, than he is now.

Still, when talking football and someone says "mad hatter", you immediately think of Les Miles.

It's all good and I didn't think you were busting my balls. I can see your point, a lot timea entire fan bases get lumped in with their worst, when actually the majority are all good, decent people and are not much different than rival fans.

Thank you Les for his gift to the young man and his family.
