I suppose you could say the same thing about Saban, Meyer, Tressel, Brown, Stoops, Carroll. They all have (or have had) about the same talent year in and year as Miles has had, some perhaps even better talent, and yet no one ever says such a stupid comment about them when they win, as in Alabama would have won the NC even if Saban weren't the coach. If Miles teams win on talent alone, I guess the same is true of every other team loaded with talent. Miles has made some head scratching calls, but on the other hand, even the most talented players coming out of high school wouldn't be worth crap without decent coaching and preparation for the college game. So enough of this brainless, tiresome comment.

Hysterical!!!! He's just lucky he has a good team...but he's not that smart of a coach? Do you see irony in that statement? Who do you think is making that team "good" in the meantime??

I've had season tickets since 1961 & have seen every type of lucky plays imaginable, both good & bad. The Bear beat us once when a pass bounced off our DB's helmet right into the arms of a streaking WR for a late game TD. Bad hops, good hops, blown calls both ways, I've come to the conclusion that 1) good teams seem to have good luck 2) bad/good luck evens out over time. As in the Tenn game: they beat us in basketball with blown game clock managment by the official scorer and, of course as every Tiger fan knows, B.Cannon scored on the 2 point play that the refs ruled no score. Bad/good coaching is one thing, but to hold perceived good luck against CM is bullshite.

Would you consider Urban Meyer and Florida "lucky" to even be in the game when LSU had dominated them? Anyone that watched that game knows LSU deserved to win it.

It really helps that he is the coach at the only big program in a talent rich state also. He could just focus on nothing more than LA and have top 10 to 15 classes every year.
why do all barners and bammers come up with all this bullshite when they can't find any other excuse to recognize that miles has whipped some serious arse since he has been at LSU and at OSU for that matter.
The Hat can coach...he can't speak, but he can coach.

As much as the LSU fans like to bash on Miles, he does have certain strengths. He obviously has the ability to recruit talent. (Is the the state of LA loaded with football talent? Sure. But others have coached LSU without bringing in the level of talent Miles has.) He also seems to be able to connect to his players on a personal level and gets them to play hard. I don't see every Tiger game, but it appears to me that lack of effort is not a problem. Also, when Les has time to prepare (bye weeks & bowl games <throw out that mudfest in Orlando>), his record is pretty good.
I think the QB situation is looked on as a weakness, but I'm not so sure. I bet the other players on LSU see how loyal Miles is to JJ and know they don't have to be looking over their shoulder if they screw up. (Personally, I would've started Lee aeons ago, but I don't look at things the way a 19 or 20 yr old does.)

I think in tigerland at this time, there is a feeling of support for Miles. He took shots to the head the last 2 years and especially last week from the natl media. Not many people could hold up and rally their team under these circumstances. I think his only weakness has been not having or recognizing a good quarterback to run this team. Now that Lee is emerging i think this position will become more settled. I also think Gary Crowton will become more settled and call some good plays. Remember tiger fans the 2 plays to the tightend in the natl champ game. Absolutely brilliant. I think good quarterback play from Lee will make life good for the whole team.

I think he's underrated here as well. See his bowl record.

And Les Miles isn't responsble for LSU having a "good team" because?

I'll say it again: The definition of luck is when preparation meets opportunity.

Biggest past of being a Good college coach is recruiting. You will not win consistently with out good recruiting.
