It's more embarrassing to lose to A&M, so I'll take the 1 loss to Arky.

Les is a good coach and appears to be a good man too. No bashing of Miles from me.

But Steele is still a huge downgrade in anybody's universe

I can think of 2 games during this current 4 game win streak by Bama against LSU that I wouldn't say LSU was "truly in". Those 2 games resulted in 21 point Bama victories.

Can you try to understand that we needed an organized recruiter on our defensive staff?

We got two of the best in the country at once.

I'm willing to bet that when we trot out 8-10 future nfl players on defense this year that whoever the coach is will look pretty good.

ETA: hopefully chavis helps you guys, I really like how lsu landed in this whole thing.

I wonder why, according to the quote posted, he didn't give any votes of confidence for his new coordinator. Implying the talent is going to carry Steele is kind of an insult to him, I would be pissed if I were Steele

The '13 game was pretty tight until the 4th qtr fwiw. But I get your point.

Y'all keep saying Chavis coaching had nothing to do with y'all's success and that it was all that talent you had and have. So why the desperate need to settle for a bad DC for slightly better recruiting?

Slightly?

Seriously, Ed o is on staff. Steele is an excellent recruiter himself.

We replaced dead weight in the recruiting staff with two of the best.

I don't care what kind of defense we run, it'll work if we restock the cupboard.

You have that backwards. Chavis completely neglected lb recruiting for the last few years here. After this season, we lose everyone and have nothing coming down the pipeline. We'll be super young in '16.

nobody said this. we're saying that Chavis' schemes/coaching depends on great talent

it wasn't a need. Chavis wanted a raise that LSU didn't feel like he was worth. He got it from y'all and we moved on and got an upgrade and much much better recruiters

this isn't that difficult to understand old man

Maybe. Maybe not. Hard for anyone to honestly say. This board likes to troll and point at Steele as a HC or his DC stint at Clemson, but does anyone honestly know how good or bad he will be with the defensive talent at LSU? No.

this... Players get paid for future potential. Coaches get paid for past accomplishments.

If he was neglecting recruiting in certain areas, how did you have a defense that was so head and shoulders above everyone else talent wise that it made him look good?

Why do you think we didn't replace Snyder a year ago? We've been waiting for Chavis. He left Yall with a #1 ranked defense and recruiting holes bc he was a double agent.

Y'all have said Chavis just flat out didn't recruit while at LSU, so who is to blame for the empty pipeline?
