Piggybacking on genro's thread........

If Les goes 11-1 with a loss at home to Alabama and we go to the SECCG and LSU is on the playoff bubble but end up missing out and going to the Sugar Bowl, but with no West, no SECCG, etc.......

You can't fire him, can you? Would you want to? I mean, our game will be a toss-up, but that isn't a completely crazy scenario to see happening.

I wouldn't fire him if he went 1-11. Mother fricker won the game of the century.

No he wouldn't be fired
But honestly I see Les retiring at the end of this season

Hell, Les could beat Alabama and lose @ Arkansas or vs Ole Miss and go 11-1 and not to go Atlanta. It is a hard arse league.

Of course he wouldn't be fired if they only lose one game.

Just said about the same thing in Genro's thread Cheeky.
I can't believe those same few strong-armed BOS members would force Alleva to let Miles go with an 11-1 or even 10-2 season and loss to Bama.
9-3 - debatable - depending on the other losses, unforeseen variables (injuries, SEC record, bowl invite, etc.)..

Well, I'd normally agree, but the way most here are talking is it is Beat Bama + win the SEC or bust.

The more realistic question would probably be if he goes 10-2 and loses to Bama what would happen.

Seems totally reasonable to me.

They were gonna fire him with 3 losses and got lambasted by the media.

I don't think it's "or bust". Some LSU fans tend to let their expectations get away from them

No of course not. There are few mouth breathers who are Saban obsessed and not beating him is a fireable offense. But he and Alabama are just on another level. Just machines.

Obviously we want to win that game, and arguable should have in 2012 and 2014, but by far the most infuriating things to most fans are the consistent foibles on offense and the recent slide against Ole Miss and Arkansas post-bama. The two Arkansas losses the last two years moved the needle from 10% wanting him fired to around 50% wanting him fired. However he does it, as long as LSU isn't blown out in any games and is in at least semi-contention for the playoffs he'll keep his job

I TOTALLY understand this. Losing close games like you have to Alabama would drive me nuts, but it wouldn't make me want to fire somebody. Losing the way they lost to Arkansas the last two seasons and Ole Miss last year would make me ready to tell him to hit the road.

That makes total sense. They didn't compete the last 2 losses. That isn't acceptable.

Why would we be on the bubble? Seems like this scenario was enough to vault a certain team into the title game for a do-over a few years ago, no?

Because it would be the identical situation to Ohio State this year and I can't imagine they'd leave them out but add LSU, regardless of the fact that LSU would have a much better resume.

But who knows.

What is with people wanting to act like Miles is a bad coach because he struggles against the GOAT? Everyone looks bad against Saban. Give the guy a break.
