If we're playing the "dumb irrelevant win stats" game, figured I'd throw my hat in the ring with something that at least hangs banners

90s-00s-10s tyvm

I'll hang up and listen

AU's highs are very high. The inconsistency, IMO, prevents those highs from being Nattys.

That '93 team was really good, but probation hurt them and the fact that they were like 5-6 the year before meant they started ranked so low.

That '04 team was great. Loaded. However, losing to USC in '02 & '03 and coming off a disappointing 8-5 record from '03 made it hard for them to climb past USC.

USC was also a historically good team in 2004. Had Oklahoma put up more of a fight against them and AU performed better against VT, there might have been a split title. But Auburn squeaked by Virginia Tech and Oklahoma got humiliated.

The score might have been close, but this is incorrect. There wasnt going to be a split title that year. no matter what

I think Auburn was no doubt the second best team in football that year and should have been in that game. But no one was beating USC that year they were one of the best teams of all time.

I think we should have been in the game(as an Auburn grad) but as a CFB fan, according the selectors, they got it right

They almost lost a few times to bad teams, they werent as good as people say they were. They get a lot more hype after the fact because of how well some players have done in the NFL

Probably right although the QB was much better in college than the league.

Decades start on year 1. You don't have a perfect season in the '10s. Edit OP.

So the year 2000, was actually the 90's and 1990 was actually in the 80's?

Do you think the first year was called Year 0? So to answer your question, yes. The first decade was 1-10, the rest are just the same.
