Your information is incorrect. Alabama won the conference championship that year, but it was played in New Orleans instead of Atlanta. The real one anyway.

These are not facts. You have a conference championship game so you have an outright champion.

Without looking I'd venture to guess that's about right for most conferences if not a little more.

eta: With looking I was wrong.

Big 10: 9
Pac 12: 10
ACC: 7
Big 12: 9

There are a surprising amount of flash in the pan seasons (Arizona, Illinois, Wake Forest, KSU etc.)

Interestingly, Mizzou is the only team to appear in the Big 12 title game and not win at least one.

I mean none of the teams I listed lost their conference championship game the year I listed them.

And I left out the year that conferences ended with co-champions.

So unless you think that nobody has an outright championship before 1992 I don't know what to tell you

Why "outright?" A conference title is a conference title.

There were only six schools to win the Big 12 when it was 2 divisions and 12 schools.

Oklahoma (7), Texas (3), Nebraska (2), Colorado (1), Kansas State (1), and Texas A&M (1)

Not only have big 6 teams won all the championships, but they have also combined for 41 out of 48 appearances in the SECCG. Arkie (3), Mizzou (2), MSU (1) and USC (1) have the others.

Big 6 still rules...TN needs to win another in the next 2 years to not get put on the chopping block, 20 years without a title is pathetic.

Bama- 2015
Auburn- 2013
LSU- 2011
Florida- 2008
UGA- 2005
Tennessee- 1998

What do LSU and Miss St's last SEC titles have in common?

Just kidding, I don't claim '41.

No one outside the Big 6 has won the SEC since 1962. That's where the Big 6 moniker comes from
