Exactly. Kiffen can recruit and Alabama doesn't really appear to need help in that area.

And other than recruiting, I see no positive to having Kiffen anywhere near a college football program.

Would be a very strange hire, imvho.

I just can't see Saban going down this road. This cat has been involved in some shady shite everywhere he's been. Bama doesn't need him for recruiting so throw that angle out the window.

If Lane Kiffin does come to Bama, add his wife to the list of high profile ladies

Sara, Katherine, and then maybe Lady Kiff

And that may be a huge question mark moving forward. The guy will have ZERO credibility when talking with recruits and their parents.

That's part of his charm. He has never had credibility, but he always recruited well.

Of course he's never stayed in one place long enough to get a feel for his ability to recruit over the long term. But he walks into some poor high school sap's living room wearing an Alabama polo and the title of OC and that will be all the short term cred he needs to pull in top recruits.

Until he fricks up yet again and leaves under cover of darkness while the program he was a part of implodes in flames.

So yeah, I think Alabama should go for it.

He's a much better coach than Kiffin. What Kiffin will always be famous for is that '05 season. It was incredible but you have to look at that roster. It was essentially an NFL roster and included back to back Heisman winners.

If you want to kill some time just google ole boy's coaching resume'. It's unbelievable the gigs that cat has landed.

Beat Georgia 45-19. With Crompton throwing for 300 yards and 4 TDs. Took Bama to the wire. Beat South Carolina 31-13.

Look I don't like the guy. But it's not like he has no credentials. I don't watch USCw though.

He is a really good OC, he just isn't head coaching material, at all. Some coaches are like that. They are really good at focusing on one thing and trying to the best at it. He doesn't have the right mentality to be a hc. He can't instill discipline, he runs his mouth a little too much, etc. as an OC, the hc is in charge and can say, "hey, stuff and just do your job".

With that said. I don't want him. But if I had my choice between him and us going to the hunh spread, I'd kiss his boots. I won't support the hunh spread

I see it more of a hinderance in recruiting. Everyone will know that this is just a temporary move and he will not be there long term.

Not to mention he will not be able to recruit the state of TN at all.

Alabama may not have that kind of offensive power and I'm not justifying Kiffin coming to Bama, but Alabama has those type of players on our roster (Not near as many high profiles as they did but you know what I mean). If he calls like he did at USC in 2005, then we might be in for a surprise. You never know.

And behold - the one Vol fan who still likes Kiffen. Quick - call Ripley's.

Or he could completely frick your offense up like he did in Oakland, or what he did to Matt Barkely. He's not worth the gamble imo. Bama is too good for this cat.

2005? That was a horrible year for USC numbers wise compared to what they had been putting up. They put up 9 points against UCLA that year which broke their streak of 63 consecutive 20pt games.

I hope yall move forward with this move just for the pure spectacle it will be, but don't kid yourself that he is some offensive genius.

Pete Roussel ?@coachingsearch 1m
Lane Kiffin was 'more than just sitting in the room and listening' on his visit to Tuscaloosa weeks ago, per person close to situation.

Option A - Lane Kiffin
Option B - Mike Groh
Option C - Mike Bloomgren (Stanford OC, Bama Alum)
Option D - Brian Schottenheimer (Interviewed for the job before, Saban buddy)
Option E - Rick Neuheisel
Option F - Frank Scelfo
Option G - Freddie Kitchens

I can't remember which Kiffin/Bama thread a non bama fan asked about other options.

These are the other names that have been thrown out.

I'd take Stanford's OC. They are the Bama of the west IMO. I like their offense.

That game vs Georgia was one of the best game plans I have ever seen or witnessed. I don't really care for him but he destroyed Georgia and we could not stop your offense that day. He probably ran 25 rollouts and playaction passes and it was a thing of beauty. I remember watching our DE's bite over and over and wanted to cry in a corner.
