My opinion hasn't changed. I hate this hire. Kiffin can go to hell.

I wouldn't expect Saban to make Kiffin a better person as that would require Saban to care.

I've never hated on Kiffin. He may not have succeeded as a head coach, but people in the business say he has a lot of knowledge. If he's good enough for Nick Saban, then maybe there is a good fit there.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Clear he wasn't ready for a head coaching position and his immaturity level coupled with the spotlight was extremely detrimental for him. Hopefully he's matured in the PR aspects and has learned from mistakes.

Fortunately, OC's at Bama are only allowed to speak in public twice a year, in August and Bowl games. I expect it will be scripted and he will know what he can/can't say to the Press at these times.

Saban is the head honcho. He'll have more control than Pete Carroll did while Kiffin was under him. There were never issues while he was an assistant, to my knowledge. I don't expect there to be in the future, while he's under Saban.

I think this will do 2 things. One, will give Bama a potential for a more diversely called offense, and maybe even more explosive than it's been. Which has been the best it's ever been in Bama's history. Second, will give Kiffin a chance to learn under one of the best coaches today. He'll learn restraint, how to develop a program and many other intangibles that may one day, help him get and have success as a head coach again.

Saban has also said in the past, he likes to have a mixture of different personalties in his coaches, because having so many different types of players, some relate to different guys.

All in all, I'm giving Saban the benefit of the doubt on this hire. I'm not overwhelemed by it, but I'm not going to criticize it at this point either. He obviously knows much more about his credentials and abilities than I. I'm ready for Spring ball to start.

I still think he's a giant douchebag. I just hope he's a better coordinator than HC. Time will tell, I guess.

Bama fans get ready to see the most predictable offensive play calling you have ever seen. Get used to seeing a lot, and I mean a lot of WR screens. I can guarantee right now that Bama's first offensive play of the season will be a WR screen.

I will say this thou, if there's any situation that Kiffin could succeed in, it would be with Nick Saban watching over him. I expect him to be on his best behavior.

Different situation. Carroll gave him the opportunity to be an OC and Kifin hadn't been a HC. It will be interesting to say the least. It seems Saban doesn't get along with a lot of his OC's by the second and third year. I'm guessing because Saban has so much control. He's been successful doing it that way, but it seems a fissure always creeps in between him and the OC.

Of course it is. Just like it's different from his tenure as Oakland coach, Tenn coach.. etc.

Applewhite was a first yr OC and went back to his alma mater.

McElwain got a head coaching gig.

Nussmeier doubled his pay. (Granted, most believe he was told to find something).

Way to miss the point.

I will try and help you out. Once you are a head coach especially in a program on equal footing as Bama (USC). It will be interesting to see how he handles being bottled up by Saban, and having little control.

Didn't miss the point. Some folks thrive under a set of controls, and fail miserably when outside of those confines. Some people need the controls placed on them. He was 32 when he got the Oakland job, was he not? Way too young with way too much power as it turned out. This may be exactly what he needs at this point in his career.

As I said, I trust Saban's knowledge on this issue and will take a wait and see approach. He obviously has made a lot of correct decisions to be where he is at in his career. 4 total NC's and the winningest program in the nation since 2008.

And with all due respect.. USC isn't equal to Bama. It's among the top teir, but Bama has established itself above all others at this point.

Some just need a solid figure and stability in their coaching careers...

This and maybe one deep pass a game!

Alabama's receivers greatest route will be stepping backwards off the line of scrimmage.

Sure hope your receivers are great going one on one.

Sure it is when you take away all the fake NC's Bama has claimed.

Listen. I don't think many Bama fans are happy about this hire. But if you are a good fan, sometimes you just have to rally around the hire and trust your head coach. Some of the posters on here that are saying this is the best hire ever are stupid and those who are doom and glooming this hire aren't too much smarter. There's no doubt Kiffin is a massive turd but only time will tell whether this will work out.

Everybody needs to just settle down a bit. All fanbases...

Holding them to the standards you imply:

AP/Coaches/BCS NC's
Bama 10
So Cal 5

K...You are fooling yourself if you think USC doesn't have the same clout and similar resume as Bama hunter. Just stop my man.
