Is this a ground-up project or just an improvement/upgrade of the current stadium? I can't tell what the inside is going to be like from this picture, are there renderings of the inside?

People can say what they want about the tackle box look, but I think it is very unique and separates A&M's stadium from everywhere else. The triple decks with all the students doing the cheers in unison looks great on TV. It would be a mistake to throw that design away and go with just another cookie-cutter stadium IMO. Improve upon the design you currently have because it is an A&M trademark, as old and outdated as it may be.

You have to put this in context as well. This is the least seen side of the stadium and will have the least amount of money put in to it because it is the student section. Really the first deck will get totally redone and then the top decks are getting concourses, new facilities, and facade to make it match up. The real money is being spent on fixing up the West side and the South side as well as matching up the North Side which are where most people "see" Kyle.

I had a hard time even finding a similar view for comparison on the 'Net as almost all the pics are of the North or West side exteriors but here is one. For those unfamiliar, all the buildings in this pic attached to the stadium are being demolished and will be made into a plaza and otherwise repurposed. It really looks like arse currently:

At least it covers the background that is the turd stain village of College Station. I guess there is one nice thing to see in that shithole town now.

It's an upgrade but a huge one. The entire West and South side will be completely redone and the first deck of the East Deck (which the OP is about) is being completely redone. Lots of concourses and far better facilities as well as lowering and moving the field and changing the seats in the corners to fix the sightlines (Kyle was originally designed for T&F as well as football). Here is an old rendering that gives some feel for what it will look like, though there have been changes since then. They have been very shy about letting pics out, likely to build more interest when they do release them.

Call me a poor judge of aesthetics (I won't deny it ), but that's actually one of my favorite daytime pictures of Kyle, aggressor. Not saying it's the most beautiful, badass stadium in the world or anything superlative like that, but I've always liked Kyle's triple-decker look and the zone, and that view shows both aspects off perfectly.

That said, I can't wait for the renovations Excited to see how it turns out.

I like the triple decker look as well. They could change it for the West side, and bowl it in, but I love it on the East.

The rendering shown above looks a LOT better than this:

Here are some current views for reference:

This is the West side view most people think of currently:

This is the North End Zone which is the newest part of the stadium and will really only get a new exterior and a few minor upgrades:

This pic is from the Southeast and shows the current South View with the athletic facilities (prior to all of the massive construction going on now with weight room, nutrition center, etc) and the East side which is what the view of the OP is:

The current South side is a monster construction area right now:

The things in that pic I don't care for are the mismatched concrete, the old G Rollie/Deware attachment, and lots of stuff that is kind of stuck on to the East side. I like the 3 Decks. I like the aerial view. I'm just saying it looks very piecemeal on that East side because it is right now. Even with the renovation it won't look perfect but it will look a lot better and certainly cleaner.

The rendering looks better because it is aerial and shows the prettier parts of the stadium. The OP pic is showing a ground level view of the Student Decks which if you look at the rendering pic it is essentially the same though you have to think about the angle.
