The linebackers are much better. The interior D-line is not as good. Hard to beat Ashawn and Jaran Reed Combo. While Daron Payne is on that level Bama doesn't have 2 game changers in the interior like last year. The front 7 starters are overall better, but lacks the depth of 2015.

The Secondary was slightly better before Jackson went out, but Kendall Sheffield and Maurice Smith leaving hurt the depth. Tony Brown being suspended 4 games hurt as well. Against Ole Miss when Eddie Jackson and Minkah Fitzpatrick went out the Secondary fell apart in the 4th qtr.

Shyheim carter wasn't ready for that type of passing attack.

Pre- Eddie Jackson injury this defense was better than 2015 and not as good as 2011. Post injury who knows.

You nailed it, now if we can get rid of Kiffin we'll be set. We're trying to pawn him off to LSU but it looks like they're going to hang onto Yosemite Sam for the time being.

Any takers?

Nope. They've been building towards this D since Tim Williams' class. There was a noticeable shift in recruiting philosophy that year. Smaller, quick twitch DL and OLBs, DTs around 300-325 instead of Cody NGs. This was just the first season we've had the personnel to run it smaller. Saban's been aware of the zone read/dual threat trend fully arriving.

I guess everyone forgets the amount of sacks and pressures last season? Pruit it awesome. Kirby is awesome.

TW, JA, RF, and RA are unreal college football players. The speed they bring while also playing like monsters is what Alabama has now that they used to lack.

The only scheme to keep our defense from scoring is not to turn the ball over. If you scheme to much for that you create a scared team that will play too tight. That in itself may cause TO's. There's no good way to stop it.

This D is much better than last year. Much better. 2011 u could make an argument about but even this D is much faster than that 2011. We struggled with perimeter teams in 2011 but it was great. However, this may be the most complete defense Saban has had. Our best defensive backfield was not 2011, that was 2012 and this one is akin to 2012 but not quite as good. This pass rush has not been seen under Saban. Our linebackers are light years ahead of last year. Knight would have put up 120 yds rushing last season.

What in the actual frick? I don't think this year's defense could hold a torch to Bama's defense last year. That shite last year and the depth of the front 7 may never be seen again in college football again.

Oh yay... This thread... Again. So original. If you want to troll UGA fans try and come up with something that hasn't been posted 25 times already.

While it isn't obvious that this is true if Kieby and Bama. It is undeniably true of Muschamp and auburn

This talent level and the physical make-up of this defense is what makes them so effective. And the fact that we returned a group of mature guys to lead this unit has been important as well.

When your defense has given up 119 points thus far and scored over 50 points on their own, a fan has to be happy.

Richt couldnt control Pruitt. Saban wont let Pruitt do what Pruitt is supposed to have done at UGA. UGAs D was way better with Pruitt last year than it is this year I know that. I know UGA lost some players on D but it is substantially the same plus year 2 of Thompson and add Mo Smith. I mean Pruitts D was mean at times and a highlight at UGA.

I think UGA fans made up a bunch of shite about Pruitt being a cancer to make themselves feel better about him leaving because UGA fans certainly couldnt bitch about the results on the field.

Im not saying either way wherther there is any truth to the OPs post regarding Kirby but Pruitt is a damn good coach and UGA fans couldnt handle it. Wasnt soft enough and he was a bully...

LOL at all the responses alluding to Smart's relevance as D coordinator.

The defense is Saban's baby. Always was and always will be. When the game is on the line Saban's influence is paramount. Sure, his coordinators know what he wants but, if he gives Kiffin arse chewings about the other side of the ball, you can only imagine how much more engaged he is on HIS side of the ball.

I'm not sure what the record is for a defense scoring TDs in a season, but Bama has got to be getting close. Not to mention TDs in consecutive games.

Before I say this - Bama's defense is insane and we (Georgia) suck donkey dong.

There has been a fair amount of luck with their defensive TDs. If I remember correctly from a Bama/LSU shite-slinging thread yesterday, Bama's turnover margin is only like +0.5 per game. They have capitalized like nobody's business. They also have an incredible special teams game, so every single return is a threat for a TD.

Actually now that I think about it, Kirby probably was holding the special teams back. Since he arrived at UGA our ST play has imploded.

UGA fans, for the most part, liked Pruitt and still do.

The "Pruitt is a cancer" stuff was getting leaked by McGarity and co. through Chip Towers at the AJC.
