That's funny. Saban had already proven that he is a great college coach and he took over a team that struggled and didn't have as much talent as Smarts. Smart is a better comparison to Muschamp . Both defensive coaches in their first head coaching job being at major SEC programs and similar records in the first year.

Anyone comparing Shart and Saban based on a very average rookie head coach campaign is a damn fool. Richt and Pruitt would have won 10 games with this squad. Plus Saban had an awful team left by Shula in 2007. McElwain would have won the East with this UGA squad easily. He has done it twice with a much less talent UF offense.

He didn't win 10 with any of the other Freshman QBs he coached (one true and two redshirt).
