Watching that Bama team, you could already see how much better they were than the Shula years. UGA not so much

Thst team lost its final 4 games of the regular season

The bus is in everyone's mind. Awbarn's the 5th most feared program in the state.

I assume Saban also inherited the 6th most talented team in the country according to 247 rankings, right?

I don't think 247 was around then but I could be wrong.

Saban lost every game by 7 or less. That included the #1 #2 #15 teams. They beat the #12 Eaat champion team 41-17. They also beat an 8-5 Arkansas team that made the Cotton Bowl.

Their other losses were @ 8-5 MSU vs 7-6 FSU in Jville and the infamous ULM loss.

That team checked out when they blew the lead vs LSU in primetime. Had they won that they may have ran the table as opposed to losing out

They were close and had a lot to be positive about.

Georgia has had a rough year in so many more ways with less to be optimistic about.

And the difference between the two situations is Alabama being a better program than UGA and Saban being a better coach than Kirby.

It was definitely a rough year for UGA. Even though the record may not suggest it, last year's team really wasn't much better.

Saban would have likely went 10-2 in the East in year one.

I'm not saying it was a good season, but they showed a lot of promise. The team was clearly in better condition than under Shula, blew out a UT team that won it's division, beat a good Arkansas team, and played national champion LSU very well until late in the game.

I haven't watched Georgia much, but from what I've seen there's no improvement from Richt.

Hard to argue against that. 3 of our losses this year came down to the final minute.

Both Richt and Kirby went 8-5 in their first season.

Did Saban take over a perennial 10 win team?

No.

You're right, Nick Saban took over the premier football program in the country.

I have a feeling duplicating years 2-10 will be more difficult.

Kirby had elite upperclassmen talent across the board.

Saban coached the Texas State University Fightin' Armadillos for 2 years.

2 plays away from 10-3 (UT Hail Mary and Eason's Tech int)

Conversely we also were a few plays away from shite-12.

In other words I'm ready for more heartbreak next year.
