When was the last year the team with the better defense lost the National Title game? '05? Defense still wins championships.

The key is getting there. HUNH Offenses have made the playing field more difficult for teams who just depend on Defense to win Championships.

Yes. FSU's defensive adjustments in the 2nd half were the difference, along with a few breaks that went their way.

Carroll had a good run, but Saban has surpassed anything Carroll did at USC. According to Rivals Carroll had 3 #1 classes. Saban has doubled that at Bama according just using Rivals.
Going to 247 Sports and Bama, if they stay at number 1 for 2015, will give Saban 4 straight number one classes. According to 247 USC had one #1 class during Carroll's tenure.

Hiring a DC as a head coach doesn't mean you're just going to try to win only by defense.
