The question is, on a yearly basis, does the guy getting paid to do this as a job significantly outperform you or I spending a few hours watching ball and a few hours crafting a bracket or mock draft.

the question is not whether they outperform you or i during the commercials. the pundits are not paid to be correct; they are paid to be entertaining. if the pundit value were based on their error rates, then the talking heads would be statisticians like nate silver.

If any of these "draft expert" talking heads were any good they'd be employeed by NFL teams.

They are "tv" experts, they exist to drive ratings and discussion.

Most of them were employed by NFL teams at one point or another. Just opted for an easier career that gets you home by 5.

I love the hate that these type of guys get when anyone on this board would gladly step into those positions in two seconds.

What would any of you do in that job? You would study film, build sources, and give your opinions. That's all these guys are there for.

if you think that there is anything on television whose sole existence is not to drive ratings and discussion, then you are a fricking moron. period.

I'm not sure if someone has posted this yet but I remember when Jimmy Clausen was coming out Kiper said that if he failed in the NFL he would quit his job.
