Gene Chizik was perceived as a defensive mastermind and one of the best defensive coordinators in the country when he finally took a head coaching job. The quality of defenses he put out onto the field at Iowa State and Auburn speak very clearly. Sometimes coordinators make piss poor head coaches.
I don't like Lane Kiffin. I think he's a sack of shite who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and who doesn't let people forget it. But he's our sack of shite now.
I also think USC's regression over the last two years had more to do with players not respecting Kiffin than with anything else.
