At this point in time, he has just as good of a chance to accomplish this at TAMU as he would if he left for Florida.

I like Florida and think it is a great job, but I don't think it is greatly elevated above aTm today. When they were Big12 yes, but the move to the SEC has given them a big advantage and they are using every bit of it.

Like I said IF Sumlin ever gets a defense they will win championships. I am guessing you missed that part.

So I am guessing you don't agree with the OP?

Sumlin needs to hit the NFL soon. I am really pulling for the eagles this year.

Same reason USC had Kiffin and Bama had Shula, being a top 5 job doesn't make it immune to bad hiring decisions it just means there's a lot more options when they move on.

When he was hired Will Muschamp was the top assistant in college football, and hell he still might work out- my main problem with him is more his style than his talent, frankly talent wise he's just as good as Sumlin (look how Sumlin did the year his QB went down early) I just don't like defense first offense at best mediocre coaches (Sumlin is the flip side of this elite offenses horrendous defenses).

This is the most likely scenario for Sumlin.

2013

2012

So yeah, I think he can be considered top 5 in the SEC, easily. Probably top 2

Money would likely be similar, the reason to jump to Florida is the same reason Malzahn would consider it-- a chance not be little brother and coach at a state flagship (for TAMU, there's also the whole chance to win a national title thing too).

The money will never be the same. You don't have money.

A&M is the flagship team and now the larger, trending university in the state. It's our turn to run the tables and Sumlin has every advantage he can possibly desire right now.

And Kevin Sumlin will be the next head coach of the Florida Gators.

You obviously haven't seen the videos of the new A&M facilities which are the best in the country.

The last Head Football Coach to voluntarily leave A&M was Bear Bryant and A&M pays more than Florida.

the reason to jump to Florida

The only way Sumlin or Malzahn end up at Florida is if they jump to the NFL and decide to come back to CFB.

You're acting as though TAMU isn't a premiere destination and program now, in 2014, and that is pretty ignorant. I can't stand the Aggies but no school has leveraged the conference consolidation into program success better than they.

If Muschamp is fired this season, he will be the coach of the Florida Gators next season. The dude is a genius

If so, Gainesville will be the reason. The Bull Gators will meet their match with the A&M ranchers and oilies. Maybe even more money than Florida, if that can be believed.

I once covered a "Miss America" sale for Angus heifers. it was emceed by the late Bert Parks. You would not believe the Aggie jets that landed up here. Those suckers know how to party and spend the jack. We drank the best Beringer by the gallon. And, law, at the prime ribs. It was like the program "Dallas" had been transplanted to South Carolina.

I have spent a lot of time in Texas. It is a state of mind, and most of the time it's let the good times roll. And Sumlin has become the new Bear at A&M.

Florida is definitely the little bro to both FSU and Miami

In what way, Florida has more money is more consistently good and draws more fans. TAMU is going going to be behind UT barring decades of success, hell if we're simply taking into account recent on field success you could argue TAMU is behind Baylor during the Briles era.

He's going to take some time to enjoy the stadium & facilities he just built.
And to reap the benefits of the recruiting classes he continues to string together.
And to earn contract extension($) upon contract extension($).
He may end up in the NFL, but it won't be in two years.

He turned down USC, homie. What makes you think it's gonna be Florida? The only completion we have is the NFL.

The newbies to the conference have no idea that Florida is the premier school in the SEC, athletics+academics, there is no school better than UF in the SEC
