But the statement was that we weren't spending money on football. It was a false statement.

UK doesn't own Rupp, the city of Lexington does. Rest assured, the $250 million renovation that was supposed to happen 2 years ago is still a very contentious issue involving the state legislature, Governor, city of Lexington and UK. It's a complex marriage to say the least.

Keeneland is closed, to the best of my knowledge, during baseball season.

You are better than this Scrooster! April is both Keeneland and the meat of SEC play as it has caused me to choose between the two in the past.

February and March is still M and W basketball and unlike Columbia is has been known to snow in May in CKY.

So basically from mid February till mid May you have M & W basketball until the Final Four followed by Keeneland and the Kentucky Derby until May, then school lets out and the students go home.

Viewed thus way…

UK baseball pre conference is overshadowed by cold weather and basketball

UK baseball early conference is overshadowed by cold weather and basketball
SEC series #1 vs Georgia
SEC series #2 vs Florida
SEC series #3 vs Tennessee

UK baseball mid conference is overshadowed by spotty weather and Keeneland
SEC series #4 vs Alabama
SEC series #5 vs Vanderbilt
SEC series #6 vs Arkansas

UK baseball mid conference is overshadowed by KY Derby and End of Semester
SEC series #7 vs Auburn
SEC series #8 vs South Carolina

UK baseball late conference is no distractions and better weather
SEC series #9 vs Ole Miss
SEC series #10 vs Missouri (not a real crowd draw)

Of all the places why hasn't U.K. Renovated rupp or built a new arena ?

You want the real reason or the one the media likes to float about?

The media version is they have ongoing negotiations between the city and the university

The reality version is they want to build a much smaller and more corporate arena and the public is not unaware. If the current capacity of Rupp is 24,000 (with NO corporate suites) and the "'new" Rupp will only seat 16,000 to 18,000 (but with lots of suites) then 6,000 to 8,000 current ticket holders will not have seats in the new arena. Think for a moment on how you resolve that and you understand why no "new" Rupp has happened.

If UK and Rupp (city of Lexington) really wanted to move forward they would release the 1,000 or so seats currently free of "donations" that go to all the city, state, and federal politicians in the state (the problem with having 120 counties is all the folks in politics who get "donation free" seats because of it).
