I'm honestly not seeing what the big deal is. He's a damn NT, not a DB. His entire role in the defense is to be big as frick. If his gut was wider than his shoulders then that's an issue, but I really just see a big dude. For reference, here's another NT you guys may have heard of who ended up playing pretty well:

I think had he stayed closer in weight/size to what he was when he showed up on campus, they would've probably needed to throw the redshirt at him. But as Cat had said, he's lost 35+ pounds since he started conditioning. He'll be fine.
