How can Louisville field decent football teams and Kentucky is continuously an SEC bottom-dweller. Is it the Curse of Bear Bryant?

Start redirecting money from Basketball to Football and results should follow.

Louisville was in CUSA and now the ACC for a couple of years. Huge difference in competition.

With that said, while a horrible human being, Bobby Petrino is a brilliant offensive mind, and he goes and finds kids who might not qualify at other schools and gets them into UL. He makes it work.

UK is in 2nd place in the east. That aint too shabby. Considering how bad they were at the start of the year to now. It is remarkable. And UK is now the great SEC West slayer.

Petrino wanted UK job when WKU hired him. Scandal too fresh then then for UK to hire him. Just bad timing that Louisville got him back. UK facilties have been upgraded nicely now. Stoops is actually a pretty dang good coach. It's not a quick fix to turn UK into a winning program and keep it there. Stoops seems to be making progress, starting to get more Ws. UK needs to finish strong and recruit well. If so, UK could build momentum needed to become a consistently good program. At this point, it seems to me that HC continuity is important. UK has very good fan support that seems to be patient enough to let Stoops make it happen as long as progress continues.

It's a smidge easier to build up a program in conferences like C-USA and the Big East before jumping into the ACC waters (which have traditionally been second at best to the SEC). And unfortunately, until recently, UK hadn't tried to do much by way of football facilities and the like. Papa Johns and Yum Brands pretty well paid for most of UofL's facilities.

Kentucky has a chance at the East. UF still has UGA, Ark, USC.

UK has UGA, Mizzou, UT.
