We have to get better at making adjustments.
I think we should play Barker in the 2nd half and let Towles run the first half.

Barker not shown to be mature to be in tight spots.

That's why we really need to start out hot on Saturday. And just hope our second half play gets better.

I only posted it because it was really just unbelievable the difference between the 2 halves at this point, especially Towles.
Kentucky only crossed the South Carolina 50 one time in the 2nd half, and that was on the final drive of the game (when they needed it most).

They need to work on building SEC depth like Mizzou.

Didn't help in first down we would get costly penalties and pin us in 1st and 20. Happen in the first 4 drives. Cost us in our momentum.

Hey coach. Your absolute from earlier...still sure about that?

I think what killed our second half in the South Carolina game is that on the first 2 possessions of the second half, Kentucky got called for holding and would start drives 1st and 20 from the 10 or 15 yard line.
When it got to our last drive of the game though, after Westry intercepted the ball, Kentucky consistently moved the ball downfield for 4 minutes before going into the good ol' victory formation.
Getting those holding penalties, specifically in that part of the field, really gave South Carolina good field position and made it hard for us to get a first down. Takes away the run-pass option, which is the main part of our offense.
Luckily for us, Florida shares that issue.

Florida is easily the best offensive team Kentucky has played so far.
Easily.
ULL and USCe both rank in the bottom quartile of passing offenses in the country.
UF, ironically, can actually sling it around a bit this year.

Well, consider that both of those teams have played 2 games, and Kentucky was one of them in both cases. Plus, count me in the camp that Orth is a significantly better passer than Mitch is for South Carolina. Not as much of a dual threat, probably not as good with the playbook, but South Carolina has Pharoh Cooper, and a guy that can get the ball to him downfield. That guy was not Connor Mitch.
Anyway, some stats for you pertaining to UK's pass defense so far.
Kentucky:
454 yards
1 touchdown allowed
3 interceptions
115.35 QBR allowed
19 first downs allowed
3 passes for 25+ yards allowed
Florida:
482 yards
4 touchdowns allowed
2 interceptions
116.88 QBR allowed
20 first downs allowed
5 passes for 25+ yards allowed

Now do rushing defenses. Good numbers actually.

No, I'm afraid to do rushing defense numbers
Florida's run defense has looked very good so far though, will say that. Kentucky's rushing offense will easily be the best that Florida has seen so far, from a talent and schematic perspective. I still think UK will have to fight hard for yards on the ground though.
I will post rushing offense numbers though, because I'm just that kinda guy.
Kentucky:
485 yards
5 touchdowns
6.02 yards per carry overall
UK RB's average 8.38 YPC
Florida:
490 yards
5 touchdowns
4.94 yards per carry overall
UF RB's average 4.76 YPC
Florida:
JR Kelvin Taylor: 24 runs, 109 yards, 2 TD's
FR Jordan Cronkrite: 14 runs, 71 yards, 1 TD
FR Jordan Scarlett: 12 runs, 58 yards, 1 TD
Kentucky:
SO Boom Williams: 24 runs, 242 yards, 1 TD
JR Jojo Kemp: 16 runs, 112 yards, 1 TD
SO Mikel Horton: 8 runs, 48 yards, 2 TD's
It's safe to say, just like Florida being the best passing team that UK has seen to this point, Kentucky is by far the best rushing team that Florida has seen. (funny how that works out, us being an air raid offense and all)
Also, ECU and New Mexico State are both woeful running teams. ECU lost a ton of their rushing offense from last season, and New Mexico State just lost a ton, period. They were like 2-10 last season in the Sun Belt, even lost to ULL by about 30
It'll be a fun game though. Should say a lot about both teams. I really want Kentucky to play like they have in the first half of these games, for all 4 quarters.

ECU and NMSU combined have 179 passes this year and a combined 1162 yards on the seasons and 7 TD
USCe and ULL combined have attempted 104 passes this year, for 781 yards and 1 TD in 4 combined games.
So, the level of competition that UF has faced has been far more proficient passing the football than anything Kentucky has faced. And It's not even close.

The week before ECU played Florida, they rushed for 192 yards on 33 carries against Towson. Yet it is Towson, but ECU's running game isn't so bad that -13 yards rushing isn't an impressive statistic.

Never thought I'd see the day that Florida was scared of Kentucky's football team

Oh, Gators are scared.

New Mexico State is 0-2, was 2-10 last season (1-7 in the Sun-Belt, a conference that ULL has won 2 season in a row now).
ECU also lost their all-time best QB, their all-time best WR, and their rushing yards leader, and their offensive coordinator.
They lost so many offensive weapons, I was stunned that they put up nearly 350 passing yards on Florida, but that's just it. They put up 346 yards passing on Florida. ECU put 235 passing yards, and 0 TD's on the board in week 1 against Towson. They went down to the wire with Towson as well.
Call me crazy if you'd like, but I think Kentucky's 2 opponents are easily more dangerous than Florida's. As bad as South Carolina may have been throwing the ball with Connor Mitch, they still have a preseason All-American in Pharoh Cooper. ECU is absolutely depleted of playmakers, and even a playcaller.
