What was reasoning for Dunbar's firing at Buffalo?

Let go so Rex could bring his brother Rob on staff.

He was VERY popular with the Jets, and did a great job with the Vikings DL. Has a very good NFL rep. He helped turn an undrafted free agent into the best NG in the NFL with the Jets, and helped develop the Jets' vaunted Sons of Anarchy DL there. Definitely a home run hire as an on-the-field coach. Recruiting remains to be seen. A bit of an unknown at this point as a recruiter, but a lot of contacts in Louisiana.

saban wasn't more than a fairly successful journey assistant NFL coach before he arrived at LSU.

He did have some success at Mich St while he was there though. Never won anything big. Never won a bowl game till he got to BR, even lost to dinardo in the Indy bowl.

He walked into a gold mine at LSU. Just as a point of reference. There were three future NFL QBs waiting to greet him at the BR airport.

This would fly if he had not owned college football the last decade. Plus Michigan State was no where before him and neither was LSU. Facts are every program Saban has put his hands on since Michigan State has improved tremendously.

Tosh is s recruiting violation waiting to happen so promoting him would have been dicey. Dunbar is a great hire.

He's already a full time position coach. He coaches OLBs. Entering his second season doing that. And third season with Alabama overall.

I assume this guy is qualified to commit recruiting violations without any blowback on the program.

laughing here, I am sure this is the sentiment of 99% of the Alabama fans, but honestly, how many had heard of Karl Dunbar or had any idea who he was before the announcement he was hired by Alabama

At this point, I think anyone Saban hires is going to be considered a solid hire. Regardless, I personally remember him at Oklahoma State with Les Miles. But even moreso with the Vikings and Jets.

This. I think Saban could stop the popsicle man and say "hey, fella? You more of a 3-4 or 4-3 guy?"

Dunbar hire is a great hire for Alabama.

Dunbar has his 10 years in the NFL so he'll get a pension from them. Now its all gravy.

You do realize coaches can be respected throughout their profession without being household names? Without looking them up name me 15 DL coaches in the NFL. Does that mean that none of them are respected by their peers?

After my criticism of the Lane Kiffin hire, I'll never question Nick's hiring decisions again.

Never heard of Karl Dunbar till today. But .....
