Just heard on "Full Ride" (Sirius CFB Channel) that Keyshon Boutte of LSU has been arrested for illegally wagering with online betting sites(FanDuel).

The fact that he was placing bets didn't phase me, but the amounts mentioned were crazy. Over $400K in 2022. $150 to $200K in 2023. And he was betting on LSU games as well as prop bets on himself.

Here's a link I found: NOLA.com Link

So, how much money are these kids really making with these collectives? I've said it before and I'll say it again. CFB is changing and the only competitive institutions are going to be those with the deep pocket collectives dumping money into players' pockets
I mean, this whole NIL world is turning CFB upside down.

IIRC the dude was on and off a lot due to various reasons, academics, injuries, and other undisclosed things. Not sure what his NIL status was but May have been low or none(?).
fricked up regardless. No excuses for this shite.

Let's see, you had betting issues with a Bama baseball coach
You had a betting issue with Iowa and Iowa St players
Now you have an issue with a LSU player

My guess is it goes on a lot more than people realize especially with online gaming so accessible

To me, if an online gaming site is allowing underage gambling than that's a bigger problem
Seems like enforcement of underage online gamblers is a lot tougher to police than walking into a sports book

I didn't hear anything about it yesterday, but based on this news (that I'm just now reading), I ran across this.

quote:

On3 reporting he placed over 8,900 bets
quote:

Court documents obtained by The Advocate say Kayshon Boutte:

- Opened a FanDuel account with the username "Kayshonboutte01"

- Bet on himself against FSU as part of an eight-leg parlay

- Made transactions within LSU football ops

So, apparently ya'll already ran this in the dirt on previous threads.

Sorry, only look at the site occasionally.

I promise, I'll do better

Rick Neuheisel on the Full Ride program said he used his grandmothers debit card info (or something like that) to open the accounts.

This is all news to me.

I say we flesh it out here, or at least bump all of the older threads just to catch up.

From NOLA.com story:
quote:

All told, the gambling on his FanDuel account amounted to 8,927 wagers totaling more than $600,000 over two years, arrest documents say.

Admittedly, I'm not a rocket scientist but I can read, comprehend, cut, and paste.

To be clear, I'm not trying to sling mud at LSU.

The point of the post was more about the huge sum of money being wagered and the impact of NIL on CFB.

Because, I don't know too many young kids that have over $600K lying around to throw away on gambling.

I understand the issues of betting on yourself, but at least there is no indication of him betting on the other team yet.

No. It's a much bigger deal having players and coaches do it. It really has the potential to compromise the integrity of the game.
