I don't think he's necessarily as great of a coach taking all things into consideration as he is made out to be.

lol he is routinely mocked and disrespected, sometimes the worst of it coming from his own fanbase.

He doesn't get enough credit IMO. Sure he inherited a stacked deck, but he's kept it going for almost 10 years now. He is a great recruiter, and he has put together some great coaching staffs. LSU has routinely been one of the top 3 or 4 teams in the toughest conference.

2011: Excellent, dominant regular season and SEC champs that lost the national title game. This season is essentially the same as Auburn's in 2013.

The only differences are LSU went undefeated in the regular season and was only challenged in 1 game all year. Auburn lost to a 3 loss team and needed 2 very fortunate breaks to not be a 3 loss team themselves. But yes, other than that, essentially the same.

2007: 12-2 with losses to an average UK team and a bad arkansas team

That was the best UK football team I ever seen FWIW and Rkansas had RUNDMC who was godlike that year. Everyone lost games that year. Weird year, weird coaches do weird things in weird years.

both triple OT

Not like they lost to UL-Monroe or WKU

Les is very good, possibly great. Definitely not elite.

Me.

Hell, most LSU folks on TigerRant won't label him as a great coach.

Most LSU folks on TigerRant are tards. I mean, literal tards.

If you think Saban is the best in the game, then you can't get too upset that Les isn't winning more SEC and national champs.

I mean, his main coaching rival is the "greatest". If Les could beat him more often, then Les would be considered the "greatest".

Having said that, Saban only holds a one game advantage over Miles.

And Saban in 2011 was luckier than Miles in 2007, to get into the BCSNC.

No, they were just average. Don't pay attention the fact that all of their starting skill players on offense spent time in the NFL.

+1

Les is solid, consistant, brings stability to LSU and you know your team will have a fight on their hands when they play.

He's funny as hell, I'd love to buy him a drink and talk with him.

Is this something that yall do on this board? I didn't realize I couldn't have a dissenting opinion without being labeled a troll. Sorry, my next thread will be "The SEC is the best in everything and all things now and evermore and I love all of you and everything about everything"

Or that it was one of the most prolific offenses Kentucky has ever fielded, no, don't pay attention to that.

Also, don't pay any attention to that Arkansas team having 3 future Sunday starters at running back.

Geez thank you. I could've just said "lol les miles sucks!" but I at least tried to put facts into my post.

I mean, although I disagree with you, I can still have an adult conversation.

But, your gonna get berated on here.

Arkansas went 4-7, 8-5, and 5-7 with DMac as the RB. The 5-7 year was 2007. So while nobody with a brain cell will discredit how beastly Dmac was, to say that Arkansas was a good team simply because of him is LOL worthy.

I've always given props to Les - even back in '08-'09 when LSU folks, radio talking heads, sports journalists pulled out the pitchforks on the guy.

He's a damn good coach, a great asset to LSU and he does his job with great amount of humor.

Everyone knows LSU fans are the easiest to troll.

Then to come up with a thread title like, "Just how good is Les Miles, really?" just screams "TROLL!!!1!"

You KNOW there's no objective measure to determine "how good" Les Miles really is. So there is really no objective answer to your question. Therefore you will get nothing but subjective responses that you can easily disregard with other subjective statements. This will go on for pages and pages and will ultimately, whether you intended it or not, turn in to a damn fine troll job with more fish than you can fit in the boat.

I appreciate that. The other 60ish of my posts have been mostly unresponded to, I guess anytime you make something at odds with the team this site is named after people come out of the wood work. I'll probably quit making threads for a while and just comment

Only a true idiot would question Les Miles as a football coach.

He's a fantastic coach and has a hell of a program.

He's also a clean coach and runs a clean program.

You're an AU fan so I doubt you would understand why that's important.

Get for f****** real and post less.

Seeing as how you only responded to that line tells me everything.

Les is great coach and LSU is lucky to have him IMO.

I love everything about him.

Well I give my sincere apology then, I'm still feeling my way.

That is correct I suppose. I didn't necessarily mean "les miles is operating at 79% of his goodness level" type stuff, I was mainly thinking of where he would fall in a ranking against other national coaches.

I don't know what that means or how to take it but honestly I didn't mean to stir everyone up. Any future threads will be far less controversial lol.

Please enlighten me on what wrongdoings Gus has performed as a head coach.
