The Feds got Al Capone on tax evasion. I guess that's the only thing he was ever guilty of either. The NCAA has charged you with the most level 1 violations I've ever seen. They established a pattern of misconduct from your institution. You are living in a fantasy world.

Two big differences. One, had Cam's father rattedd on him the way Tunsils step father did, y'all would have been hammered.

Secondly there was no immunity given to the state snitch in yalls investigation. Anyone seeing a trend here? Had the state snitch in our investigation not been given immunity we would have only received the one NOA and would have lost 11 scholarships only because a players family member snitched

Come on man, the NCAA found half a dozen more Level 1's during the 2nd investigation, Leo Lewis was only one of those. And if your Administration, including your coaching staff hadn't carried on working their deals while y'all were under investigation then there would have been no need to send the NOA because OM would have been clean.

Not sure if that's stupidity or just plain arrogance? Most schools, when the NCAA comes sniffing, pucker their b-hole pretty damn tight and make sure every I is dotted and T is crossed in triplicate just to be sure.

Yeah, I can't figure that out either. OM chose to retain staffers that were listed in the 1st NOA. They obviously didn't even take the time to monitor and vet something as simple as Tunsil's loaner cars. And the AD & HC didn't even put the lock down on Barney because he was still working as middle-man between the recruits & boosters during recruiting.

Was it arrogance and rebelliousness or was the process so systematic that they were entrenched with continuing on like they had done in the past that they couldn't shut the shite down?

Alabama fired Bo Davis over a very minor incident. Hell he is already been proved clear by the NCAA and was hired by UTSA. But Ole Miss doubled down and said "frick it".

Here's the facts from an outside perspective:

MSU beats Ole Miss 4 outa 5 years and 3 in a row...starts putting up billboards all over the state mocking Ole Miss. Dan Mullen is king of the state.

Ole Miss alum gets tired of hearing it every day. Factual details below:

Yr Rec Rank MSU Score (prior year)
2008 29th 17-14 MSU 2007
2009 19th 45-0 Ole Miss 2008
2010 23rd 41-27 MSU 2009
2011 20th 31-23 MSU 2010
2012 5th 31-3 MSU 2011 (FREEZE HIRED AFTER THIS)
2013 8th 41-24 Ole Miss (2012)
2014 15th 17-10 MSU OT (2013)
2015 17th 31-17 Ole Miss
2016 5th (probably the NCAA dagger here)
2017 30th

One might assume that Ole Miss Alum went out and hired a coach with 2 years HC experience...who had some rather strange ties to OM already through Michael Oher...since Freeze got hired along with Oher signing.

There aren't many reasons why top recruits would suddenly start signing and most would argue that a new, unproven HC probably wouldn't be enough reason. As to Freeze supporters claims that he was such a strong Christian (not mocking or judging that here) that kids gravitated to him. Tunsil's behavior and Treadway's rep don't argue for that angle exactly....

soooo....

From an outsider's perspective...ya'll got tired of the billboards and getting that butt kicked..brought in a naive guy as coach...and started cheating like crazy.

And Ole Miss STILL can't beat Arkansas. That must really sting.

Doubt it had much sway with the kids but probably helped with the parents.

Here's a tip from a fan who has been through this before: No matter how much you can prove your point, nobody is interested in hearing how the punishment didn't fit the crime. If you were guilty of anything, then they don't care if you got hit harder than you deserved. People don't focus on nuance. You cheated, you got punished, end of story. You're welcome to keep debating it, but you're going to be very frustrated at your inability to persuade anyone. Trust me on that one.

It's all ok. I'm about 83 days, Ole Miss will know their fate and Ole Miss will go to the SWAC and we will never have to hear about them again

Freeze knew how to turn a blind eye to the folks the could work deal behind the scenes. I honestly doubt he knew what the boosters were doing, but there is NO reason for him not to know his own coaches were coordinating recruiting visits with the assistance of boosters. And there's NO way he didn't know that Tunsil continued to use a loaner car while under NCAA investigation.

He can't use the defense that the FCA guy isn't a booster....All Ole Miss Compliance had to do was get the FCA guy cleared through the NCAA before they allowed him to transports recruits to OM, and before they allowed him to attend a breakfast with recruits in Hugh's own home. Ignorance is no excuse, you have a Compliance staff in place for a reason.

I think the problem is that Ole Miss was blatantly cheating out in the open and didn't care. NCAA investigates and they still carry on business out in the open.

Giving churches gift cards to hand out to players and still continuing to do so without a care in the world is why everyone is upset and wants the NCAA to come down with the hammer.

While others believe it's time for you boys to drop your pants and say "thank you sir may I have another."

Ole Miss success in recruiting didn't pass the smell test. Too much too soon. Was it reasonable that Freeze would come from Ark State and within a year grab three 5* in one class out of nowhere? Maybe he prayed to Jesus and the Lord, troubled by OM's decades long suffering, made sure that Hugh was rewarded for his stalwart Christian faith. Nah, that's bullshite.
