Was terrible against Auburn, mainly because Eddie Jackson was getting his lunch eaten by Coates all game. Outside of that, the secondary has been pretty decent this year. Not great, but not terrible. That Auburn game really deflated Alabama's defensive stats as far as what they were averaging giving up. The only other really bad game was West Virginia, when once again one of the Bama corners was getting worked by a great receiver (Kevin White on Brad Sylve). This was also the case last year vs Texas A&M when Cyrus Jones got his arse kicked all game by Mike Evans. That has been the trend. Generally when Alabama gives up a ton of passing yards, it is because of one really bad mismatch in the secondary.

Eddie Jackson is a physical corner. He is primed to match up in traffic and toward the line of scrimmage. Similar to how Landon Collins is. Eddie would make a decent safety, he just so happens to have great ability at the LOS. Sylve matched Coates better because he's just as fast if not faster. Alabama's defense gave up 10 points in the entire 2nd half until the garbage time score. Great defense 2nd half. Decent 1st quarter. We get Sylve in, in the 2nd quarter, its a blow out.
