Austin has plenty of bars right by campus? Some of my favorite ones actually are right by UT. It's also a major city with one of the most well known bar districts in the United States a short cab ride away. Not really comparable to A&M or LSU

There actually aren't that many. There are a few on the Drag and a few north of campus. Other than that, the bars are downtown.

So is Baton Rouge, unlike CS, which is basically a shite stain on the map with a collection of frat bars. No thanks. Baton Rouge is a LOT better than CS. It has multiple areas to go to that are relatively diverse.

I always thought the Austin bar scene 6th St thing sucked. ACL festival is always fun but I'd rather drink at Chuy's or Stubbs than the bars there.

A&M grads are mainly looking for gays bars. Outside of Spanish Town not a lot of options for them in BR. I think this explains most of their "BR sucks" posts today.

People keep saying this but have yet to provide where this secret fun bar area is. Also if it's that hard to find it probably isn't that great
