Let me go ahead and take the role of the realistic LSU fan.

IMHO, JFF will be fine. There will be no sophomore slump. He might not win the heisman or post the same (insane) numbers.. but he will still dominate. Or he could post even better numbers and win the Heisman again. Who fricking knows?

Also, Cam wasn't that bad in the back half of the season FWIW.

No matter how hard Aggy keeps denying it, I honestly believe Johnny and the Aggies will have a fallback year next year because they won't be surprising anybody anymore. Like an earlier poster said, there is an abundance of game film now and D-Coordinators will have 9 months to look at it.

Teams have known exactly how to stop JFF since LSU played them. The problem is that there aren't many teams that have the personnel to play the contain game with the DEs that LSU used to stop him. You need tons of speed on the outside. You have to be able to make him hesitate to take off and run.

Did we "surprise" you in the last game of the season? Did we "surprise" OU after they had weeks to prepare? It's not about surprise, unlike everyone on this board wants to believe. This offense is not about surprise. It's about exploiting what the defense is giving you. We have the capability of running the ball with our running backs/QB, swing passes to HB/WR's, crossing routes, and deep balls to 6'4+ receivers. If none of that is working, Johnny will take off and run. They do all of this at a blinding pace, too. There is no gimmick, no surprise, no tricks. It's an effective offense that many people are in denial about.

Actually a big part of JFF's effectiveness is doing the unplanned, unexpected, and ill advised. He's hard for coaches like Saban to defend cause he does things that most QBs have been trained and coached not to do... Like throw back towards the the interior, off balance, left handed, etc.

He takes a step back production-wise but his soph slump is still good enough to have him top 3 in SEC

This is my thinking. There is a lot of film on him now but there's only so much that preparation can do when he can still flat out beat everybody on the field. His passing will suffer IMO but he is most dangerous when plays break down and he has to improvise. There isn't really a way to prepare for that unless teams invite him to come practice with them lol.

I think we would have already seen the "sophomore slump," in the Cotton Bowl. Johnny had every reason to come out and play flat in that game. He had been living the jet set lifestyle since winning the Heisman. If we saw Johnny play at his most distracted in the Cotton Bowl then I seriously doubt there is going to be one.

have you seen our schedule? the only 2 teams who have the talent to stop manziel would be bama and lsu. its not like the formula on how to stop manziel hasnt been figured out, UF and LSU showed how, but its all about the whether or not you have the personel to do so. bama and LSU do, no one else on our schedule does

He is a scooby doo fan...

The more "game film" coaches got this year, the more they sucked at stopping him.
