Is this the thread where we come to mock and deride a young guy that is infinitely more talented at his craft then we are at ours, but who is also a Train Wreck, for seeking medical assistance in an effort to not be a Train Wreck?

If so I'm in.

It is kind of sad to see any person crash and burn. Hopefully he turns it around. Way too many sad endings with substance abuse problems.

Can we say Todd Marinovich

Best of luck to the kid. Hopefully he comes out of this a better man and a better football player.

Until I'm informed otherwise, I'm going on the presumption that this is the Rehab he's checking into.

Well, there's no way but up on both accounts, but I doubt rehab helps with #2....unless they teach NFL QB mechanics in rehab.

I wish that was the case, Cockopotamus.
When I think about who I was as a 20/21-year-old ... I shudder.
Let's just say I'm thankful I was in college at that time.
I'm glad Johnny's making this decision now.
Too many stories (each of us can cite 'em) that end tragically.

Actually, many Aggies saw this coming. That's why we all knew he was going to go pro. He wasn't going to be able to handle the restrictions of the NCAA during the offseason. He played his arse off, but partied a lot in his free time. Thankfully, he left somewhat gracefully and didn't hurt the FB program.

Shut up because you didn't. Your delusional fan base kept trying to promote this myth that any criticism of him was "haters" trying to invent controversy and "oh here is a pic of Johnny Football with a sick kid see haters you are just making this up."

Ok, I saw it coming, and have friends who also knew he was on a slippery slope.

But don't let logic get in the way of your hate stream of consciousness.

FYI - you can be a good teammate, you can visit sick kids at the hospital, and also have a penchant for too much partying. They are not mutually exclusive.
People are either going to like him or hate him, it doesn't matter if you keep hating him.

Just not mature enough to handle it at an early age. Anyone who didn't see it coming is blind.

And I like how the statement was crafted.. nothing that states what drug or issue the treatment is for and thus nothing in the press that Godell could state he violated the professional code of conduct for.

If they say he is in drug rehab for cocaine, then he admits he is using cocaine. After the MLB went after non-positive steroid tests athletes are being much more careful

And a couple of other things probably.

Guy is just not mature enough to handle the money and fame - it happens. Look at Brittany Spears, couldn't handle anything on her own.

He'll either get better or continue to spiral.

I'm neutral. Hope he gets it together but I just don't see him as an NFL football player. I don't relish in his failure, I'm an alcoholic myself and have felt he's had addiction issues for a long time.
