Pretty sure Jimbo would win with a heisman QB and Mike Evans.

It sounds right but I still think he'd blow it

When I was an older kid, I was in some small East Texas town, a HS football game, and someone pulled up in helicopter. I don’t know the context of who it was, I just thought it was so cool. I was like dang, that dude must be rich lol.

Yeah, that happened down here one time but it was Channel 7s Friday Night Flights crew going from town to town during games. Pretty cool though.

Wasn't Sumlin a drunkard?

Yes and while there were rumors he was getting out of control w/it the drinking ultimately wasn't why he was canned.

Two main things led to Sumlin being fired.

At the end of 2015 he lost two 5 star future NFL QBs within a week of each other in Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray (an Aggie legacy) mainly due to his refusal pick either one of them as the starter. According to former players he made zero effort to talk to either of them all during the season while yanking them in and out of the lineup w/almost no rhyme or reason. This debacle lost Sumlin quite a few boosters and many wanted him fired then and there.

Then to start 2017 he blew a 34 point second half lead w/just 19 minutes left in a game against UCLA where he literally could have just run down the clock and taken a knee the entire 4th quarter and won. Instead kept his foot on the gas running HUNH w/a true freshman Kellen Mond who was only in the game b/c starter Nick Starkel went down w/injury. The only coaching decision I've seen come close to challenging his final 19 minutes at UCLA for worst of the last 10 years was Mario Cristobal's inexplicable refusal to knee out the game that led to losing against Georgia Tech this season.

There is a good chance that if Sumlin doesn't blow the UCLA game he survives the 2017 season. But between losing the two QBs and then the UCLA game he lost all support from the boosters.

Sumlin anchored his boat to Noel Mazzone and sank. Then he boat a new boat in Arizona and anchored it again to Noel Mazzone, and it sank.

Sumlin’s best year will always be tied to Kingsbury. Spavital was a disaster and then Mazzone made it worse. “But but he developed Josh Rosen at UCLA.” What a complete disaster. And that was just the offense, to go along with improper roster management that was going on with the QBs. The defense was never respectable. We forget how bad it used to be when you couldn’t stop the run or pass.

Jimbo made more money than Jameis dreamed of. All off of Jameis.

Of course the white coach gets paid more to have a worse record. Equal pay for equal losses.

Moral of the story is that it really doesn’t matter who is the coach or how much money they spend. You are who you are.

That’s not true at all, wtf. LSU basically bought a Women’s championship with Mulkey, used NIL to snag the best baseball recruiting class that got them a championship. At Arkansas, their NIL have helped them recruit elite basketball players and go on deep tourney runs. Bama tried in basketball too with Oats and their recruits, in football, there are countless stories. Miami turned it around playing money. Oregon’s NIL has them making a run, etc etc etc. Just bc it hasn’t happen at A&M doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen all the time, successfully.
