But this is not Hill's first mistake...amd TM7 didnt hurt anyone but himself.
It is while he has been a student at LSU.

Wasn't he signed with LSU?

the guy would have been in the hospital and Hill would almost certainly be facing jail time if he connected squarely.
maybe so but none of that has anything to do with assualt.
I think the crime you're referring to is second degree battery, which would be when the offender inflicts serious bodily injury.
simple battery is simply touching someone in a forceful way without consent. a slap, a punch, a push doesn't matter.
If hill had swung at the guy and missed completely that would constitude simple assualt.

memory says no, but maybe. thought he was just a commit but it may have been after he signed.

No, he was not signed with LSU when he was arrested in December of 2010 while a senior in High School.
LSU decided to still pursue Hill as a recruit even after his arrest and being placed on probation. We offered a scholarship, as did several other schools, knowing with full disclosure his past legal situation. He enrolled at LSU with a clean slate and up until the April fight has been clean as far as we know.
Was it smart that he got in a fight at a bar. No.
But this is not anything out of the norm for the average testosterone filled college male, so dont make it out to seem like he is a cancer on the team constantly getting into trouble. Hell the Heisman winner last year was involved in a fight over the summer leading up to last season. At the end of the day they are still 18-20 year old college students who can make mistakes just like most of us did at that time in our lives.
No one had a problem with him last year when he was in beast mode or when Les had him host Robert Nkemdiche on his recruiting trip.

Several SEC schools decided to still pursue him.

Maybe it would have been ok and not a big deal for you if he just got a DUI.

After watching that video, it is going to reflect very badly on Les Miles if Jeremy Hill is a part of his football team.

Not if he wins a heisman though....

If Jeremy Hill wins the Heisman I'll post pics of myself shoving a 9" spiked pink dildo up my poop chute.

All he did was a suckerpunch haymaker that was both terrible form and incredibly dirty.
Reminds of Dwyorciak(sp?) when he haymake'd an Alabama player on the field and no one saw it.

I'm sure an A&M fan's opinion will keep him up at night

I think people who criticize LSU for signing him after the first thing are a bit misguided. People make mistakes, especially when they are young, and sometimes the lessons people have to learn from their mistakes are what make them into better people.
To your earlier point, I think the issue here is judgment. He knows he can get in trouble. He knew he had a short leash, and he knew he would be judged differently with his past and high profile than someone without a record or his profile. Most people I know who made stupid mistakes in high school or college tend to go out of their way to avoid trouble, even if they think it was stupid they were arrested to begin with.
It's got to be a fine line between having faith that someone, with the right guidance, will be able to learn from his mistakes, and realizing that someone is just using his extra chances to reinforce the mentality that he doesn't have to live by the same rules as everyone else. I don't know what the answer is for Hill, but I hope he fits into the first category. You hate to see someone with such a promising future be in such a precarious situation.

Not surprised to see the usual suspects in here defending this feckless thug

I think it's mostly that they don't understand what happened. They just read the headline and assume he was forcing himself on some poor high school girl which wasn't the case at all
