If I were to be king of the SEC, I would keep our game with UGA and drop the Iron Bowl. It's getting too weird as of late.

This.

It is a drag to think that we might end up losing several great traditions just so these random schools can join our conference. I don't care if Auburn ever plays A&M or Missouri.

Move us to the East!

Could move Bama and Auburn to the east and Missouri and Kentucky to the west. Would make the east a helluve alot tougher division.

This is a very interesting discussion. I say the SEC just abandon geographic reasoning in determining the divisions. Hell, we now have Mizz in the SEC. We already lost our compass.

So I tried to list out divisions that worked with all the rivalries in the same division and thought I came up with the ideal solution. But then I realized I had UGA and UF in seperate divisions. Bottom line is some rivalries are gone or we maintain a cross division permanenet rival. Otherwise, the only solution would be to put Bama, UF, UGA, AU, and UT in the same division. And that wouldn't work- way too strong.

Anyway this is what I came up with: East vs West with a confused Florida, which is fitting since that state has identity issues. i like the balance here and the natural new rivalries which would form in the new West, but UF/UGA would get screwed.

East Alabama Auburn UT UGA Vandy KY USC
West LSU UF Mizziu Arky TAMU Ole Miss MSU

No way you move Florida over. First of all, they're the last team geographically that should be in the west, and not to mention in addition to us, they'd lose UT as a annual rival.

There's really no simple solution unless you move Bama and AU to the East which is way too strong or add a 9th SEC game which of course hurts everyones odds at winning national championships.

Expansion sucks. I don't care at all about playing Texas A%M or Mizzou. At least I'd be excited about playing FSU or Clemson if we got them.

Playing Fla, Ga,Tn, and UA every would be like old school again. Would be more exciting playing those games then the Ms'and A&M every year.

On the too strong thing really depends on who's hot. Look at the SEC west right now. 4 of the last 5 BCS champiions have come from 3 different west division teams. 4th team Ark., just finished the year in the top 5. Pretty strong dont you think ?

Its one of my favorite games of the year. Lose NW Directional State if possible. If it has to go... Tech I guess?

frick no, GT is our biggest rival, then UF, then AU. idc if we see west teams less, either go to 9 games, although i hate that, or let us meet west teams less frequently

I don't understand why we wouldn't go to a 9 game conference schedule. It makes the most sense. Everyone else is doing it too.

Money and one less cupcake game coaches can play. But for perception reasons, as well as conference cohesion, I think we have to go to 9. The media is going to berate us with every other major conference going to 9 while most SEC schools play 3 or 4 cupcakes a year.

This.

If any of the upper half of SEC teams played a 9 game schedule in another conference, our schedules would have more cupcakes than it does now... (2012 UGA not included. ) Perception is shite if people can't realize that. I'd rather see a 16 team conference with 4 divisions and a play-off system for the conference champion... frick it. No one wants a playoff for the NCAA, we'll make our own dammit. (<-- Won't happen but I can dream right?)

So we might not get to play our biggest rival because we will have to play the Faggies? Yeah that seems fair. Really wish those butthurt queers would have stayed in the SWC.

biggest difference between the sec and big 12 is illustrated in those words. cooperation results in a stronger more cohesive league and that is more profitable for all in the long run.

kudos to the SEC!

I would trade the Iron Bowl for UGA, UF, and UT in a heartbeat.

Yeah I say go to a 9 game schedule. The important piece of information to consider in all this is the likelihood that we will have a plus one by 2014. I imagine the SEC Champion, even assuming they have an extra loss due to the added SEC game, will always be in the top 4. And sometimes even the west's runner up will be there! ;)

Even more so than ever, win the SEC and you'll be playing for the NC. Apologies to AU '04.

If they screw up Bama/Tenn and Au/Ga every year, they may as well go ahead and move Auburn to the east and forget instate rivalries too.

just move AU to the east and there will be no issue...

The East schools only had sporadic history with UT prior to the divisions, there would not be an issue if they moved and Auburn came East. The old rivalries are preserved and we can get back the UF-AU rivalry that was lost the last time schedules were mixed up.
