Look @ the number of times the two teams have played vs the number of times LSU/Tulane have played.

The first college football game between the Auburn University and the University of Georgia was played on February 20, 1892 in Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia.[2] The game was the brainchild of Charles Herty of Georgia and George Petrie of Auburn, both trainers at their respective schools and graduate school classmates at The Johns Hopkins University.[2] The game was also, according to legend, when Auburn's team cheer, "War Eagle," originated. Auburn won the game 10–0.

The Tigers and Bulldogs have played each other nearly every year since. There have only been three exceptions since 1898, when World War I and World War II interrupted the series. Through the 2011 season, the rivalry is tied for the seventh most played college football series at 115 games, and is among the most evenly matched, with Auburn holding a 54–53–8 overall lead in the series. When the Southeastern Conference (SEC) split into its Eastern Division and Western Division in 1992, with Auburn placed in the west and Georgia in the east, the game was designated as the teams' annual cross-divisional rivalry game.

I really don't care, just pushing buttons and it worked

but the LSU/Tulane has been ranked as having the worst "trophy" for a rival game

If I were to be king of the SEC, I would keep our game with UGA and drop the Iron Bowl. It's getting too weird as of late.

I don't understand why we wouldn't go to a 9 game conference schedule.

1) $
2) uneven scheduling (diff # of home and away conference games every season if you play 9 instead of 8)

Everyone else is doing it too.

big 10 seems to be staying with 8 conference games. Who other than the PAC has gone to 9 conference games a year? Certainly not the ACC, Big "12", Big East, or midmajors

If anything I think the SEC taking on an extra conference game would be an unnecessary handicap when you could use that slot to play a good team out of conference and/or make money on a home gate

As a Bama fan, all I have been able to think about during expansion discussions (besides dreading trips to Columbia and College Station) is losing the Third Saturday of October. It is by far the most meaningful rivalry game for me (and I'm only 30) and the thought of losing it to allow these clowns into my conference makes me sick. There is nothing more old school than Bama/UT and AU/UGA. Don't screw this up Slive. Do whatever you have to do, but don't mess with these games.

Quick thread hijack. Do you know if the cops down there have any leads on who murdered that Headland farmer last week? TIA!

It's funny you mention it, we were talking about it at lunch. It has been strangely quiet, news wise, as to any leads. Did your wife's family know the guy?

Easy fix... move UT to the West and Auburn to the East. Voila!
