1. JF didnt play as a true freshman. Technically JF is nowhere near Hurts at the same point in both their careers. Lets revisit this convo after 8 games of Hurts sophomore season.
2. Hurts had to split reps with that spastic blake barnett the first two games of the season which limited his production.

Jalen Hurts is a unique player. You can't really compare him to any other dual-threat I've seen.
His personality, demeanor, and poise are like nothing I've ever seen in any QB. He embodies the phrase "ice in his veins." I've never seen a player play with such little emotion--but in a good way. He's never rattled.
He has a sort of invincible aura around him similar to Cam Newton. Like you just can't get to this guy.
He's a fast, nimble runner. Never seems to take a hard hit unless he's getting sacked. He's gotten really good at the read option.
As for passing, he's got arm, and is really good at the short passing game even on the run.
For the long and intermediate, he's got a good enough arm where he can potentially make any throw, and makes enough to make the defense account for the pass, but is still very raw and inconsistent.

I'm not going to look up the exact numbers, but Manziel only played something like 26/32 quarters those first 8 games. He sat out entire 4th quarters in the majority of the games in 2012, and sat the second half in both the Auburn and the SCSt games.
I can assure you he played about the same (probably less) than Jalen has through 8 games.

Jalen Hurts at Bama with Saban as the coach = Colin Kaepernick at San Fran with Harbaugh

Like him or hate him, That's up to you I Guarantee after the game you will respect his abilities as a duel threat QB, And you will respect Alabama Defense They are like a big road grader with hayabusa 1300r on the outside If you try to run toss sweep or a reverse, And I know your Defense is very good, One thing that is going to cause LSU to loose is your QB he's slow UA will be on him like white on rice, and he will not escape, Good luck you're going to need it Roll Tide

Oh well, he's a pure freshman, and just turned 18 a few weeks ago. I'm sure he is playing at his peak potential already and will never improve.

Poor analogy by all. Hurts will never have Manziel like numbers because so blatantly simple...Bama's offense has more talent surrounding the QB and will utilize that talent, especially the running backs to compliment passing game.
