How did LSU fans really believe that the shrimp-boat captain all of a sudden just became a great head coach?

Most LSU fans hated the Orgeron hire. Then he caught lightning in a bottle so everyone had to jump on board. The true Orgeron is back and so is the fans wanting O gone. Happens all the time in coaching. See Auburn.

Players have always loved coach O. They loved him at USC, Ole Miss, and LSU. I don't believe, all of a sudden they think, " O is an idiot and I'm leaving". Someone near the program, someone with money has gotten in their ear about something.

Ole Miss players hated O

He'd always been a beloved assistant, but his Ole Miss time he was a tyrant (pretty sure he even openly admits this).

Good ole Ed DuBorgeron. "It's a tremendous challenge, but a tremendous opportunity. Go Tigahs!"

He is currently proving the old saw that you can build a thousand bridges, but they will never call you Ed the Bridge Builder. But you frick one goat...

How was he able to mask all of that last year and have a tremendous run? From the outside looking in it’s just wild to see

I don't know. I didn't feel too good about the early 2000s rankings but maybe it was because it took me a while to warm up to having the target on Alabama's back and good preseason expectations.

I didn't buy into the idea that he was terrible and I knew he would have to have improved from the time he was the HC at Ole Miss. But now, Saban or Dabo-like? I think everyone knew that was a stretch.

My HS art teacher was a big Bama fan and she didn’t handle that season well

She’s probably feeling good now

I shattered my leg that August in 2-a-days and one of my "goals" for recovery was to be able to get the pins out, put pressure on my right leg and physically walk around (without a wheelchair) at the Alabama/Auburn game that year since it was going to be the 1st one in Tuscaloosa and we were going to be so good!

GREAT MOTIVATION

I could understand that. 2000 was pretty bad and so were the next few. No wonder we got so hyped on 2005. LSU put a stop to that season though.

I hate to say it, I really do, but having been through it, I think that Coach O's personal life is getting in the way of his job.

Also have vivid memories of a waitress at red lobster in fort Walton being fricking pumped for that season

Like I’m at a classy restaurant and this broad is treating me like a second class citizen

You had fans wanting to fire Saban after winning a championship then having a 10 win season... Imagine winning a championship and seeing a season like this at Alabama. You can pretend the fan base wouldn’t act like this but everyone knows that would be a lie.

I was against firing him before the Gilbert transfer rumor (especially with all the covid shite going on and this season being a true outlier for many reasons). However, It's clear that something is very toxic in that locker room and he has lost the players.

Once you've lost the locker room, its over. But now we're kind of stuck with him unless he gets fired for the title IX shite.

In the "be careful what you wish for" situation...Ed gets canned, and Bo takes over.

Then LSU will be the most hated football program in the history of sport.
