Are you a damn fool? The point has not a fricking thing to do with admissions........

Back when Hamilton was the AD, he and the administration decided to toughen the requirements for an athlete to qualify at UT. Once this "power" was given to the administration (which is now Jimmy Cheek) they refuse to back off and go back to the days of Fulmer when a player had a personal tutor/notetaker in class with them. At schools like FL, UA, LSU, UGA, etc a trick that the athletic departments can use is the "learning disability disorder". It allows the athlete to qualify and play their sport. UT no longer is able to do this. The only way that it will change at UT is if Cheek's power is revolked or he is hired. Unfortunately here in Knoxville no one wants to go to games anymore because they are horrible. Good luck making money with a half-filled stadium

In other words they want to get back to recruiting real thugs instead of the fake ones that are armed with pellet guns and drive Prius's.

Precisely. Thugs win games. FL also won a few Fulmer's under corch Meyers, no?

There are examples that show that UF is not taking these kids but UT is trying or does.

We did try that we John Brown under Urban but he never even qualified to see the practice field if I recall correctly. In UT's defense on that same player, they could not get him qualified when he tried to enroll there after a stint at JUCO.

Basically there are major issues between the athletic people and the academic people. The athletic side has given back more to the university side than nearly any other school for years.. for the next 3 years they will be keeping 18 million instead of giving it to the school to try and help with the athletic side's money woes.

Tennessee is absolutely harder to get into than it used to be and harder than most SEC schools right now because Jimmy the booger eating Cheek is determined to make UT a top 25 research institution. Some "easy majors" have been done away with and the admissions process is more difficult.

This is where many of UT's current problems originate. The university essentially had a goose that laid golden eggs into the mid 2000's. They kept pulling selling those eggs, thinking that they goose would just always lay more. However, they forgot to feed the goose in a manner of speaking. Not to mention how Mike Hamilton, may he rot in hell, leveraged the future income of a program that was not getting sufficient resources for continued success in the changing SEC landscape. Trying to find coaches "on the cheap" or that are "diamonds in the rough" is a recipe for disaster in the SEC.

this message above is correct...problem is that Cheek wants to make UT the Stanford of the South, we've got a National Forest in our backyard, not a Silicon Valley
