John Brown was a DT that couldn't get into Fl but magically enrolled at UT.

John Brown (May 9, 1800 – December 2, 1859) was an American abolitionist who used violent actions to fight slavery.[1] During 1856 in Kansas, Brown commanded forces at the Battle of Black Jack and the Battle of Osawatomie.

That John Brown would have never considered UT.

Do you know why?

It is harder to get into UT than other schools which is where the problem arises.

According to the US News, UT accepted 69.7% of its applicants. By comparison, Alabama accepted 43% (subject to change due to rolling admissions), Auburn accepted 70%, Arkansas accepted 60.9%, Georgia accepted 63%, and Florida accepted 63%.

I'm sure UT is a fine school, but your assertion about it being that much more competitive to get into sounds pretty much like bullshite. Any other stupid unsubstantiated statements you wanna make?

But on a serious note:

Tennessee football signees John Brown and Marques Dixon not to qualify to enroll at Tennessee and can not play this season for the Vols. Coach Derek Dooley was informed on Monday that both players failed to meet the necessary requirements set by the University of Tennessee and the NCAA in order to compete this season.

Why is it now more difficult to get into Tennessee?
Is it a lottery issue?
I remember hearing about the effect of lottery funded scholarships at places such as Georgia.

Just because there are more applicants to turn down doesn't mean it's harder to get into.

You make a claim that you don't back up, and yet I'm the one who gets laughed at? This is BS

I mean wtf, how you get off claiming that a school that admitted like 70% of its applicants is so much harder to get into than other SEC schools? Florida is a tough school to get into, but it doesn't seem to hurt their AD's pocketbook any.

Somewhere close to Tennessee. Maybe slightly higher.

Vandy and Texas A&M have the highest.

Those are for student admissions. Not sure about bending the rules for student athletes like Saban and Miles do all the time.

So, you maintain that UT is the hardest school to get into?

The school gave the AD 18 million for this hire. Jesus Christ.

Why are you arguing when you don't even understand your own school's financial situation?

Your school didn't "give" your athletics department a damn thing. It allowed the athletics department to KEEP the $6mil/yr over 3 yrs that the AD had been donating to the school to fund academics - thus in reality, all it did was allow athletics to keep their own money.

Have these admissions standards at UT just recently changed?

I remember a time when UT was financially in the black AND somehow managed to field a damn good/competitive football team that were always in the championship picture.
