It's a shame Franklin left Vandy

Having a solid Vandy football team in the conference was pretty cool. Hopefully they'll be able to find someone else to replicate what Franklin did. I don't think Mason is the guy but I'll withhold final judgment for another year or two.

Vanderbilt being good was unsustainable, even for Franklin. He got out at the perfect time, and he knew it

The only way he would have stayed is if he had failed the Penn State background check.

I hope Penn State comes back to start challenging Ohio State in the B1G. He is definitely doing well in recruiting, but wow is his OL bad at Penn State.

The rape situation definitely would have hurt his image at Vandy, my guess is he knew a lot more about it but with all his no comments we will never know.

Franklin was an a-hole who stirred up trouble with everyone. I'm glad he's gone.

Not true. Franklin would have kept them very competitive. I think he would have had bowl seasons fairly regularly. He's a very good coach and excellent motivator. He would have also recruited better then anyone in their history every year. They don't have any of those benefits with Mason.

I'm sure you are. If not for a botched FG, he would have beat the Hogs with half the talent Arkansas had.

I just got back from dinner here at State College at a place called the Corner about half an hour ago.

I can see why they love him here. He came into the restaurant passing out posters and taking the time to pose for pictures with people at the tables.

It was obvious he is very energetic and I have little doubt he will continue to kill it on the recruiting trail.
