Defending him or not. Actions on the field speak volumes, and until he stops producing or does something that would warrant legal action that will stick, I am all about him having a good time. Us Aggies generally dont throw anyone under the bus. We arent LSU about Les Miles...

FWIW - 99% of Aggies agree hes a douchebag. But hes a douchebag that put us in the national spotlight. So im okay with that.

It is absurd to make excuses for him. I guess you defend Lohan as well.

Other than his one arrest, I don't see anything wrong in what he's doing. Even that was only for a fake ID. Probably the most petty reason possible to get arrested.

People getting all riled up bc he plays Pebble Beach with his dad.

He's a nice guy personally, however if I was in his place I would hate my life. The kids and most parents here at A&M treat him like a god. When people recognize him they surround him and follow him every where. At the end of the night when people find out which bar Johnny's at they wait outside just for a glimpse of him. It takes 45 mins for the cops to clear the way so you can exit that bar. Why does it matter that he shite talks on the social media.

It kind of feels like us hard working, responsible people are the last of a dying breed. Half of my generation suffered from it and it just keeps getting worse. I partied and acted up plenty but there came a point where it was just time to grow up.

As fans it is hard to separate life outside of football. We did the same with Tyrann Mathieu

his "off field issues" are a bunch of media driven BS.

I have a little pity for him but not much.

It stems more from the fact that the kid cannot even go out to eat anymore. Some of that is on him but plenty of it is on the media and other students taking pictures and tweeting about him constantly. Tebow couldn't go out...Cam has been harrassed since his return to AU.

He is the first social media superstar. Twitter wasn't big when Ingram and Tebow won. Cam and RGIII were older and more mature.

Kind of sucks that the only real bad thing he has done was get drunk and kicked out of the passing academy.

Going to parties and drinking ARE excusable bec he IS a 20 year old.

I could care less about his background regarding money or anything else but I will not give him sympathy because he can not handle the pressure if that is the case.

People assume his alcohol problem(if that is the case) stems from the pressure. I think he has always enjoyed himself, just now it is being reported. His parents why they feel the need to jump in is beyond me except to get attention. I also see him doing nothing different than any other college kid.

The real headache for all this is Sumlin having to deal with it.

This is true, but you also have to ask would we know anything about "JFF" without A&M?

I would be very interested to know what Kevin Sumlin is saying about this stuff behind the scenes. It seems his dad just tried to throw them under the bus with Johnny.

If he was a bench player we wouldn't know about 99% of his antics

This I agree with. He is in the spotlight because of what he has done on the field. And if he was on the bench no one would be on here talking about him.

Some on here though defend him like nothing that happened is his fault and he was not in control of any situation. That the media is picking on poor little Johnny and creating the issues. No one forced him to go out drinking at the Manning camp, or go to frat parties or put himself out there. He made those decisions and again they are what many do in college all the time. But he also should understand the consequences. People mess up in life all the time but there is a huge difference in holding yourself accountable than not.

I wasn't an ambassador for my school either. That's a shitty excuse anyways. I didn't see Tebow or many others before him blaming the media for his failures. He's a spoiled brat and that's all. Judging by his parents though it's hard to fault him. My grandparents raised me for the most part so I learned the value of hard work and the value of a dollar at a young age. That's what this new generation is missing. Just because you come from money doesn't mean that you shouldn't teach your kids these values.

It not an excuse its just the truth.

Going to a frat party IS NOT A NEWS STORY.

Going to a sports event IS NOT A NEWS STORY.

Meeting celebrities IS NOT A NEWS STORY.
