The defense wasn't substituting though. They were set and did not substitute or give any indication they had an intention to do so.

This is just another example of the conference protecting Bama.

Look at the dejection and disappointment on that ref's face. His team just got a penalty called on them.

It is normal for them to give them time, but A&M's D was set. There was no reason for him to do that other than trying to help Bama. Just more examples of how they help them out.

Dude for sure lost his bonus check on that one...What happens to refs that dont help bama properly? Does the REC send a man with a bat?

That is pretty funny. There have been several times when refs have funny reactions or do stupid shite. I'm always happy to laugh at them. The time that ref tackled the South Carolina player when we were playing them was one of the funnier ones.

I also remember one from the 2003 SEC championship game (not going to pull up the video because I'm lazy). LSU, already leading 31-13 late in the game, was inside the UGa 5-yard line. We ran a play, one official was looking directly a block being executed by an LSU OL, he briefly turns his head to see that the RB has scored a TD on the other side of the play, then he immediately turns back to the block he'd been staring at and throws a flag for holding on LSU. It looked for all the world like he was thinking he wasn't going to call it unless LSU scored and when we did, he didn't hesitate. LSU already had the game in hand and had easily covered the point spread, the call had no impact, so I doubt he was trying for some reason to prevent the TD. Just funny the way he made the call.

Doesn't matter. They still have to give them the opportunity. Especially when the offense still has 12 men on the field.

Yeah they would have had to give them the opportunity IF THEY WANTED IT. Watch the video though. They're clearly set and ready, aka not wanting to sub, when he runs over there and starts gesticulating at Alabama, trying to save them from a penalty. Then when Alabama gets flagged for it he hangs his head like a little kid who didn't get a toy.

You're clueless.
The refs only stop play (i.e. stand in front of qb) when subs are actively coming on the field for the defense IF THE OFFENSE SUBS. Not to "give an opportunity".

No they don't. That would be fricking retarded. That would allow the offense to sub quickly at the last second and not allow the defense an opportunity. And the offense was in the process of making a substitution. You expect the defense to make a sub before seeing who is coming off the field for the offense?

Do you know how ignorant your statement is? IAlabama was penalized what else you want a forfeiture? If they don't stop play and Bans runs on a sub and they throw a bomb for a TD you would be here writing about the refs helping Bans! This is getting quite old you need to read LSU fans excuses they have original ones!
