I wasn't talking negatively about any system. However, the NFL still operates around the concept that QBs run the offense and should be able to make all calls and reads. They run complex pass trees out of what we would still mostly called "pro style" offenses.

So, the QBs running those offenses in high school and college are not well trained to pick up the most advanced schemes in football that are expected of them in the NFL.

Should the NFL adapt to the way college QBs are trained and play now? Maybe so, but at this point they don't, and so the NFL sees it as a pool of talent that can't adapt to the NFL.

It isn't the job of colleges to serve as a development league for the NFL. That might well be a selling point in recruiting, but in the end they are trying to win games against other colleges and entertain their fans.

And the same goes with high schools. They have absolutely no duty or responsibility to run a certain kind of offense for the benefit of a college. Sure they want their grads to do well, and do their best to get these kids scholarships.

But run a drop back passing system to do that? Just not the way the world works. Particularly when as I said most of these schools almost never have guys who can succeed doing that.

Basically the NFL's problem really just doesn't matter (except to them). What's more puzzling is why people seem to think it is an issue.

Agree with most of that.

However, until the NFL starts moving towards collegiate offenses we'll continue to hear the complaints.

My guess is, whoever figures out how to effectively run offenses with enough current collegiate concepts but in a way that keeps their QBs safe will be the next big thing.

pretty risky for the nfl to leap into that. they are losing fans as it is
