For the folks doubting that turf isnt more dangerous, heres some facts from a reputable sports source. I linked it in my previous post but I am going to reiterate it and add it to the OP just to make sure you all see it.

"College football players suffer knee injuries about 40 percent more often when playing on an artificial surface compared to when they're playing on grass, according to a new study."

I love it - first Bama fans lead a crusade against the HUNH, and now they're focusing their efforts on taking down the field turf industry. Too good; you can't make this shite up.

Gump on you crazy dumbasses, gump on.

Shut it HBT. I specifically said I was NOT blaming the loss on the turf. Just injuries. We got our asses beat and were lucky for the game to be that close the way we played

Turf > Grass

Not even close. Grass is a much better playing surface.

Kaptin, that's an interesting link. I'm sure more studies will be done on that as the sample size grows.

I saw Archie Manning break his arm on AstroTurf; now, I know this stuff is not as bad...

But, how long until an injury happens to a Mississippi player, that would not have happened on grass?

I love how you can specifcally say in the OP that OLE frickING MISS BEAT OUR GODAMN ASSES LIKE RED HEADED frickING STEPCHILDREN AND THIS THREAD HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT FACT, yet they still troll saying we are blaming the loss on the turf.

This board sucks so bad now its unreal. Pathetic really.

Its generally the away team that has issues since they dont play on it all the time.

We have practice fields with both Turf and Grass and a Indoor Facility with turf that gets used as well. I'm pretty sure every team in the SEC has a indoor facility with turf so what are you complaining about if the players have turf fields to practice on or they could be very easily built? If its that big of an issue then why doesn't bama build a turf practice field so the players can get used to it since practicing on the indoor facilities apparently does nothing?

We save money on gas by not having to mow it. That money goes to recruits. End of story.

My professor at UT was doing a study on that when I was in college. I don't know what his findings were but its something that probably every college with a turf program is researching.
